exmoordave Posted November 26, 2009 Share Posted November 26, 2009 The Somerset Modellers Club would like to anounce that their annual exhibition, RAIL-EX SOUTHWEST (TAUNTON), will be held at a much improved venue from next year. The new venue will be TAUNTON SCHOOL, STAPLEGROVE ROAD, TAUNTON, SOMERSET, TA2:6AD. The Club has been searching for a new venue for some time and have at last found this superior new location. This means that the show will be held in two large ground-floor halls, so no stairs, no stage & no class-rooms!! Access will be much improved for both the visitors & exhibitors alike. It will give us the opportunity to increase aisle width in the display areas, while maintaining extensive free parking on-site and still offer high quality hot food and drinks on both days. Purely as a bonus, the grounds of the school overlook the ex-GWR mainline!! (With apologies to non-GWR fans of course!) The school is slightly closer to the station than our old venue yet still only 7/8 minutes drive from Junction 25 of the M5 motorway. In order to secure this venue we have had to move the dates for the show and it will take place on the 4th week-end of October each year. So next year's dates will be 23rd & 24th October. Naturally we hope to cultivate the same friendly atmosphere and we shall naturally maintain the same high standard of layouts from around the country, plus the same variety of diverse traders & demonstrators. Our new location will enable us to continue to improve and build upon our reputation as one of the best shows in England!! Bit of a pity about the change in date though, as before it's always been a nice treat at the end of my first week back at Uni after the summer.
