If only Henley had a racecourse, I could use loads then! It is after all a lovely model.

No racecourse ??!? .... isn't it called the Thames ?  ........................ OK, your eights might object to arriving by horsebox - but chances are they commute up to Town in cattle trucks five days a week as it is !

Commuting is by Class 16X/Class387, the cattle trucks don't arrive until Crossrail gets to Reading in a few years time.

Ignore the diagram listing by Rail's , this is a new number on a re-release N16 from Hornby.

Is this the first time it's appeared in pre-roundel livery?

I wonder whether they'd be suitable for the 1940's as a bit of variety?

Not sure, but it is difficult to justify a 1937-built prototype with a pre-1934 livery.

Maybe that's why Hornby is pretending it's not an N16.

Thanks Miss P.

That may answer the question.

C'mon guys, time to do some modelling!

Gat a big rasp and create a tumblehome on the ends and you have a N13

:jester:

I have several of those as I bought the Parkside kits. Also got enough of the LNER, LMS and BR versions.

However I don't have a N16* and was pondering the BR version. Which seems to be correct.

Just that manufacturers and retailers are confusing things.  ;)

*Not counting a couple of the old Lima model. Good for it's day, but that was the early 1980s.

Hi,

Are these horse boxes re-issues of the Lima vehicle?

I have a slightly different model R6561 and have been reliably inforned by an 'expert' that it is a Lima re-issue.

Cheers and Baffled

No. You can tell Lima ones by all the strange things on the roof.

The Hornby horse box is a silk purse compared to the Lima pig's ear.  There would be a lot of work to do underframe wise to get the Lima box anywhere near the Hornby model - assuming the body is accurate.  The roof obviously needs attention too.  It would make a great project.

From what I can tell the Lima "model" is the same diagram as the Hornby offering, notwithstanding the "LMS".

I reckon the guys in Italy had had too much falling down water when they designed the roof!

What exactly are they supposed to be? Missile launchers? Tunnel Cleaning sprays?:jester:

Amongst the best RTR rolling stock when it came out though. Not much better.

The roof apparently came from a misreading of the drawing. Roche I think.

On the drawing it looks like there was loads of perturbances, but they are where the ventilators and lighting were. But on the drawing it looks like there are four rows of three.

I’d question this so called “expert” if he thinks that.

A bump for this thread as a friend is building the Parkside/Peco N13 but has no info on running numbers. I'm away from my Russell volume at the moment.

Russell's "Brown Vehicles" doesn't list numbers only lots for N13, however "Coaches Vol.2" does but they are random and don't follow a sequence.
