RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted January 14, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) Thanks, Graham, looks like they have heeded your advice, but there still seems to be some confusion as to which is which......... Dave Scott
Hornby mag have a write up of the Dapol, class 73. ~It looks a good model apart from one point. The pics show a screw coupling fitted to the coupling hook shank and its painted red.. Now class 73 did run with red screw couplings but they were of the emergency double ended type and would hang down over the dropped buckeye. Perhaps I am being picky but a screw coupling with a pullman rubbing plate looks wrong
grahame
The Dapol SR/BR Schools class 4-4-0 is presumably about to hit the shops - it's announced for launch in Jan/Feb in Dapol's latest adverts (in NGSJ 1/16). Does anyone have any confirmation or more up to date info? G.

RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted April 29, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 29, 2016 As reported elsewhere Hornby have both withdrawn some items from the 2016 and moved others into the 2017 range, including some of the SR / BR S items such as the original Merchant Navy pacifics. I have posted details of those SR / BR S models on my blog Those withdrawn here https://grahammuz.com/2016/04/17/Hornby-withdraw-some-2016-range-items-from-production-including-a-few-sr-related-items/ Those moved into the 2017 range here https://grahammuz.com/2016/04/28/Hornby-move-a-number-of-2016-range-items-into-2017-including-the-original-merchant-navy-pacifics/

RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted November 3, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 3, 2016 Graham, apologies if I have missed a previous entry (I shall delete if this has already been mentioned). I have found a source for Bulleid 5250gal tender bodies (and chassis..... the new body ones ....were there 6?). I needed one for 35003. I had not realised this is the tender that was supplied with HD/Wrenn Modified Bulleid Pacifics. It is the Wrenn supplier Maurice Gunter and I have the details if required. If there is another and or better product I'd be glad to hear of it (PM?) Phil

RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted December 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 10, 2016 I have updated my blog a couple of times recently that might be of interest to Southern 4mm modellers First up a bit of a review of the Hornby SR dia 1529 and dia 1539 cattle trucks https://grahammuz.com/2016/12/02/sr-diagram-1529-and-1530-cattle-trucks-arrive-from-Hornby-as-part-of-their-2016-range/ Secondly a post detailing the versions of Merchant Navy Pacifics being produced by Hornby and what renumbering possibilities / time periods exist https://grahammuz.com/2016/12/10/talking-stock-35-original-merchant-navy-pacifics-Hornby-initial-variations-in-detail/
RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted December 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 10, 2016 Thanks for the info on the initial four Merchant Navy models, confirming my first impression that none will be suitable for my purposes without modifications and a tender swap. Hopefully, there will be something closer for me when the next tranche is announced. John
RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted January 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2017 The full Hornby range for 2017 has now been annoucenced and I have posted a round of all thing Southern railway and Sothern region related on my blog here https://grahammuz.com/2017/01/04/Hornby-announce-full-2017-range-a-southern-railway-southern-region-related-roundup/
45568
Graham, You mention the sandbox fillers on 35018 as being slightly different, I will be interested to see whether the clack valves will have their unique shape as well, and the different boiler side piping. I also thought 18 had black-backed plates originally. I had been looking to model 35018 from 35020, and the clack valves/fillers/piping are all issues I have been trying to work out! If the big H do it right, well......! Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted January 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2017 Hi Peter. I meanto to include the clack valves in the comment as well, so have now duly updated the post. I doubt Hornby will be modifying the tooling to accurately replicate these subtle differences. She certainly had black backed nameplates when first rebuilt but like most of the class these were later returned to red but I do not have the date to hand. RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted January 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2017 I also note that on the Hornby website as in the 2017 catalogue the diagram numbers for the two cattle trucks have been transposed (as I mention on my blog post). It is the Maunsell diagram 1529 that is in the large SR pre 1936 livery with the Bulleid diagram 1530 in the BR livery, the images are correct just the description heading wrong. RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted January 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Graham, would they be considering a blue paint job for later issues do you think? http://www.semgonline.com/steam/pics/rv_35027.jpg Edited January 4, 2017 by Re6/
RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted January 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2017 Hi John I am sure it is on their list for a future release but will have to wait at least another year to find out...
