Warship livery question

Perfectly valid. Several carried this variant including one illustrated here http://www.therailwa...o/Illus_42.html

Only two Warships carried this livery in BR service, D830 and D831, but they weren't identical as the positions of the numbers and logos were different. There are plenty of published photos of both locos, off the top of my head Geoff Endacotts fine volume 'Westerns, Warships & Hymeks at Work' has at least one shot.

Thanks guys. I do take preservation liveries (as in the linked photo) with a grain of salt but, from Nidge's information, it would appear that Monarch did wear that livery.

Just dug out the Warship bible from the library, aka 'Book Of The Warships' by John Jennison (ably assisted by Mark Alden and Martin Street of the Diesel Traction Group)....

D830 was released from Swindon in BSYP livery on 8th January 1967 but didn't stay like that for very long, as by August the ends had been given the full yellow treatment. It then kept this livery until it was withdrawn on 26th March 1969.

D831 was released from Swindon in BSYP livery 30th November 1966 and kept this version until it was released from Swindon in the 'standard' blue / full yellow ends on 4th March 1969.

Hugh Dady's excellent 'The Heyday Of The Warships' has very good colour shots of both locos in BSYP, showing the different positions of the numbers and logos (note that D830's logos were smaller than standard)
