The Harvard was also used to give training to newly appointed BofB Flight pilots without previous experience of flying aircraft with relatively big piston engines before letting them loose on Hurricanes and Spitfires.

I believe it's main role was to teach control of a "tail-dragger".

In DERA/QinetiQ we had quite a "heritage" fleet, with the last two Meteors - the last one arriving at Boscombe with about one hour of frame life left - and the BAC-111 which in the early 1970s at Bedford, originated instrumented landing technology and techniques as now used across the world.  A good friend of mine organised the repaint of the Lightning gate guardian.

That brings back fond memories of Saturday TV back in the ‘70s.  Those Angels were glamorous even though they were puppets.

A little more warhammer modelling today. I wanted to convert up a Wolf Lord using limited edition Space Marine captain as a base. Always slightly nerve-wracking taking a scalpel to a limited edition model but I don't plan to resell it so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Here is the artwork on the box if you build it "stock".

And here is mine after a rummage through my bits box and painting in space wolf blue/grey livery.

Working on this 1/.48th Trumpeter Dolphin US Coast Guard helicopter.

I won't mention where I got it from but it was a bit of a surprise to open up the box (bought as new) and find that someone

had already been at the decal sheet. That may also explain a mysterious missing bit from one of the sprues which necessitated

a bit of scratchbuilding.

The interior is not correct for this variant of the Dolphin but I was quite happy to build it as it stood. Next up will be some complex masking

for the paint scheme.

Only a few fiddly bits left to add to the Dolphin.

The kit doesn't include any decals for the white and blue stripes on the tail, nor the thin stripes under the cockpit, so these

had to be masked and painted by hand. As you can see I only just managed to squeeze in the Coast Guard insignia! The clever

thing would have been to measure it first, then work out how wide the white bit needed to be.

The main body colour is a mix of red and orange.

Its Real Scotto, It is Actually water misted, like those garden Onament things with produce a Fog. It is forced out and upwards by a little fan which speeds up with the more throttle I use.

now if you could come up with a Version that actually makes Black smoke!! thats the holy grail!

Nice Beaver.......

That's the same aircraft (albeit a different livery) that I had a sightseeing trip over Vancouver in 2017......

You may have cost me some railway modelling tokens.

Dh86A Express - unknown scratch built (I think) model.

Not built by me but spotted on eBay - complete with its own wooden storage case.

I remember queuing up outside the Avenue Cinema in Belfast with my Mum and my Sister in 1978 to see the film Grease. The Avenue was a real fleapit in Royal Avenue and is now long gone. Next door was the Great Eastern Hotel, also long gone, but at the time being used by the Army. I remember the Humber Pigs starting up and going out on patrol as we waited.

This is a 1:43 scale resin and white metal kit of this 1970s icon (at least in Ulster) by Mountford Miniatures.
