27042 and 27059 at Gourock with the enjoyable  "Fair Maid of Perth" tour on August 9th 1986. There were vast crowds lining both banks of the Clyde that afternoon which some thought was to see these fine "tip tops" , the Royal yacht Brittania passing was perhaps the reason for said crowds!

Yes please Carl!!! I'd never seen a Trainload Construction Class 47 hauling a DBSO Push-Pull set. Was it just an ECS from Cowlairs? or had they ran out of 47/7's that day and something else hauled it out to Edinburgh?

I think it worked the service north to Aberdeen and this was the return working.

Great pics!

Re: 26032 at Carlisle, reminds me of an old lima 33 that used to do that (to be fair, it was an even older lima point!)

To see more of this 27 at Kyle (there must be a better way to post this) follow this link and find post #12:

Nice!

If you want to link to a particular post in a thread.  Go to the post and click on the '#12' (or whatever) and a link appears in a pop up box for you to share - copy and past the link into your post.

Really enjoy this topic, sadly I have very few photos to contribute, hoping the above will kick start a flurry of new photos for us all to enjoy.....

The photo of the class 20s at Dunfermline reminds me of my school days watching these trains climbing the bank at Touch on their way to Longannet.

Nice topical pic of 'Jimmy Shand' there.

When the loco was de-named in 1996, one of the nameplates was mounted on wood and presented to the man himself.

This was auctioned 2 weeks ago as part of his collection, put up for sale by his son Jimmy Jr.

Estimated at £1500-2000, it went for £1100.

Three 26s at Perth all in different grey liveries. 26 037 in Railfreight grey, 26 006 in triple grey and 26 003 (just) in Dutch. I can't remember when but I think it was early 90s, taken from an excursion from the Leeds area to Inverness ("Highland Explorer")

I do not have a large number of Scottish photos, but here are two from Inverkeithing that I do not think have featured before

Since I was at Edinburgh University 1980 to 1986 allegedly studying medicine there may be a few images lurking about?

The selection here includes 37 crossing at Ardlui (feeling was an SRPS tour to Mallaig), 246 Morayshire on Santa Trips round Suburban in Edinburgh? and Green Arrow and Evening Star double heading a rail tour at Saughton Junction  (Jenners Depository behind photographer)

Then 2 signal boxes that  have lost since gone. Kingsknowe and Kirknewton

A few more loose images from the box.

We have a few images taken pre closure of the Forfar to Stanley Junction. One is certainly taken at Coupar Angus and feel the others are Forfar?

Next its Kyle of Lochalsh I seem to remember an ex SR Brake van was in the sidings and that was more interesting? Cant find the image though.

Last one ,I think, is one of the Stirling signal boxes but it has nothing on the back to help. If so its circa 1985 when I should have been doing Geriatrics attachment rather than bunking off to the station!

I have just spent the last few hours drooling over the variety of pictures contained in this thread. Please keep them coming.

On a point of detail, it seems clear to me that DOCJACOB enjoyed his student days as appears to struggle to recall his time on the West Highland line!. I say this as I am pretty certain that the 37 is at Garelochead heading south and not Ardlui.

Of the Mk3 sleepers used only in Scotland, were they always in Blue and Grey livery even with the Scotrail Sleeper branding? Am I right in thinking none of them got Scotrail livery i.e. to match 47716 in the picture?
