RMweb Premium keefer Posted July 16, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 16, 2012 i think all 4 discs were capable of being folded up or down, just they tended to be folded down so the marker lights were obscured. you're right though that it's rare to see and would make an interesting variation! also notable is how dim the headlights are - they were a fair bit brighter than markers lights (lucas car headlights, i believe?), yet nowhere near the searing brightness of the lights on a lot models (or today's real trains for that matter). tractor_37260
Regarding Scotrail/ScotRail coach brandings. Found this rarity when sorting out loco photos to add. Unusual to have both Inter-City and ScotRail brandings together. Of note ScotRail has the later upper case R in this example. BTW Anyone have photos of the BG's in ScotRail Exec livery as used on the Glasgow-Dundee-Aberdeen PP services ?

tractor_37260
This any good. Cheers Peter. Hi Peter Thanks for the photo. Photos of these BG's are pretty rare, at least one had the ScotRail branding unusually placed at the far end of the light grey skirt - next to the loco - it may well have been like this on one side only, finding "which" number is the quest ! 92061/92086/92088/92091/92128 according to a Platform 5 booklet all carried this livery. Since the the loss of fotopic :cry:it's not so easy now to find specific photos. Cheers Ken
Flood
The only BG I can confirm is 92088. This is the style shown above, there is a photo of it in the 1987 Coaching Stock Pocket Book and it is the first coach in the photo taken by me on 6 July 1985: Edited August 17, 2012 by Flood

RMweb Premium keefer Posted October 7, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 7, 2012 (edited) nice shot of a mk2c CK at montrose there. i think there were only 4 or so and tended to be used on edin-inv trains? presumably the 2nd class compts. only had the armrests removed/sewn up (this one still has curtains), so you would effectively get a 1st class seat! RMweb Premium keefer Posted October 8, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 8, 2012 fantastic pic, look how much is going on here. the p-p set seems to missing a TSO, the other train might be an abdn-edin with the RMB, a 101 coming on/off the depot, a rake of HAAs with canopies and just the whole coal yard scene! dvdlcs
nice shot of a mk2c CK at montrose there. i think there were only 4 or so and tended to be used on edin-inv trains? Hello. I can still remember the numbers; 7550, 7551, 7553, 7558 and 7561. As you stated converted from FKs (add 6000 for the original numbers). Not sure where they were used but certainly based at Inverness in the mid 1980s. Hope this helps, David.
oh my goodness me
Thanks for the BG info. That pic of the BG with the ScotRail logo at the far left hand end is on the scot-rail.co.uk website and I modelled it, have been waiting two years to find the right number, will teach me not to ask here. Scotrail logo with the smaller r. There's a pic of Mk 2e 5852 here http://80srail.zenfo...f13e0#h10cf13e0 plus a pic of a model of 5852 in November 2012 Rail Express Modeller. One of the Mk3s with a rail blue scotrail stripe is 12019. Steven Edited October 8, 2012 by oh my goodness me

Flood
thanks for that david, from what i can remember (and have seen photos of) they were used on pretty much the edin-inv push-pulls The Edin - Inv, Glas - Inv and return services weren't push-pull. Consist of CK, TSOT, 2 TSO, BSO (Mk2 air-braked).
RMweb Premium keefer Posted October 8, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) thanks flood, i thought they were - using a TSOT and possibly the ex E-G 'spare' p-p set? EDIT: found a pic i was thinking of and it's the spare p-p set + DBSO on edin-inv july 1984 - no mk 2c CK, but i think a 2d TSOT might have appeared later? EDIT: found a pic i was thinking of and it's the spare p-p set + DBSO on edin-inv july 1984 - no mk 2c CK, but i think a 2d TSOT might have appeared later? Back in 1984 the spare p-p set was not on a daily Perth - Edinburgh, Edin - Glas, Glas - Edin, Edin - Dundee so it had more chance to wander around. Regarding the TSOTs, Inverness originally had two of the Mk2d variant (6603 and 6607). In 1987 6607 was reallocated to Craigentinny but it was never repainted in ScotRail colours and remained in blue and grey. 6603 remained at Inverness and looked very out of place compared to the Mk2a and Mk2c stock around it.
