chrissixties
Inspired to come up with something myself. Nothing glued together yet but comprises of: Foden cab from RTI, Base toys chassis and a Kibri 1/87 body. Was worried about the scale of the body but I think it just about works 11
phil gollin
. That looks remarkably good. Could you tell us which Base Toys chassis and Kibri cement mixer lorry you used as "donors" ? . 1

fodenway
There's also the Spanish EKO mixer, which came on various chassis including Unic (pictured), Barrieros and Pegaso. Although the cab/chassis are to around HO scale, the mixer body needs a bit of simple trimming to bring it down to an acceptable width for 1/76. Also pictured is a Foden S21 mixer in the early stages of construction using a cab from RTI mounted on a modified Base Toy chassis and more suitable wheels. 5

Fat Controller
Takes me back to watching them load at Issac Jones' yard in Furnace, Llanelli. Apart from Fodens, I remember Leyland/AEC/Albions with LAD and Ergomatic cabs, Commer/Dodges and Ford D-series; strangely, I can't remember any Bedfords.
JCB 3C no.2
Bedfords never popular in mixer trade , suppose they were seen as light/middle weight trucks although they did have the KM .
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted October 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 14, 2019 Ford D series and the later Cargo were not used very often either probably for the same reason. A heavyweight chassis is a requirement for cement mixers due to the enormous strains put on it by a constantly moving load with a high centre of gravity. chrissixties
Had another go with a RTI cab and chassis plus a mixer from a 1/87 Herpa Mercedes - shortened to fit. My favourite Foden this time Edited April 8, 2020 by chrissixties Better image 7

RMC had a few, I remember seeing quite few cargo and D series. There is a D series currently under restoration https://www.flickr.com/photos/46166396@N03/49765965311/in/dateposted/
JCB 3C no.2
Yes when I started construction work in late 70s there was masses of big civil engineering projects going on in my area ( new steel plants and chemical plants ). RMC was THE player in ready mix concrete (probably ringed!!) and there were dozens possibly hundreds of their orange mixers around . These were nearly all Ford D Series that had replaced the previous Albion Reivers . Although there was still the odd Albion in service. chrissixties
Was never quite happy with my previous attempts so changed the 4 wheel Foden to a 6 wheeler and the 6 wheel Mickey Mouse Foden to an 8. I think they both look better for it...
chrissixties
A simple conversion and repaint - base toys Commer cab and chassis plus a Herpa mixer body. Still some details and decals to add.
