Andy Y
Dapol, in a surprise announcement, have confirmed at the International N Gauge show on 10 September that they are to produce working semaphore signals. The signals are controlled by a 9V - 15 V AC or DC input and can be controlled via DCC decoder or traditional non-DCC methods. Initial products will be lower quadrant (GW) and upper quadrant (LMS) designs in home and distant options. The signal includes a miniature LED which lights behind the coloured spectacles on the signal arm. The motor is enclosed within the 13mm diameter plastic tubing beneath the signal which also features an external thread and nut to securely mount the signal. There is an over-sized base plate which users may wish to trim down or cover. If successful it is intended to extend the range further to other regions and include brackets and gantries. The video shown is from the factory of a working sample which illustrates that the process is at an advanced stage following 6 months of behind the scenes work with deliveries possible in 6 to 8 weeks. A comparable range of 4mm signals will be confirmed in due course with deliveries hopefully available before the end of this year. The 2mm signals will be priced at £24.95 and the 4mm signals at £19.95 for the single arm home or distant options.
NINJA
At last someone is going to produce accessories that have been wanted for a long time, best of luck to them.

S.A.C Martin
This is the biggest gap in the ready to run market - well done Dapol for taking it on. Can we have some Eastern Region variants too, please...?
nebnoswal
I remember when I last visited the UK, in 2007, a certain shop retailer mentioned in passing that these were on the cards. I thought nothing of it at the time, but 4 years on and here it is. Now if only they do lattice posts
Edwin_m
Excellent news. Dapol and Tomix seem to work together so these may be a variation on the Tomix Japanese signals. If so then using a proven mechanism should help with reliability. Didn't the LNER use something very similar to the LMS signals too, at least in the later part of its existence? BR certainly standardised on the LMS design or a minor variation of it, the WR as usual being the exception. So these signals actually cover a wide range of eras and locations. Some brackets etc would be nice, but runs into the usual problem of diminishing returns as the more complex types will be more expensive and used in much smaller numbers. NZmodeller
HI Everyone, This is excellent news and for me as I haven't installed any signals yet. I was just starting to research doing this the slow hard way so this is very timely indeed. Bravo to Dapol, I can't wait! Peter
Karhedron
Excellent news and just in time for me to signal my GWR BLT. Thanks Dapol!
Sailor Charon
Well, that's nice. I haven't got round to putting signals in yet - if only because I have no idea how I'd do it. So, yes... Great
Jon Harbour
That is fantastic news. I was trying to figure out the cryptic instructions on a Ratio control kit, so this will save me so much hassle! Woo-hoo!!
the penguin of doom
This is the biggest gap in the ready to run market - well done Dapol for taking it on. Can we have some Eastern Region variants too, please...? Or, dare I say it, some North Eastern Railway variants?...... Cheers. Sean.

Marty Mc
Brilliant news. Good on you Dapol, Im looking forward to these another dimension of realism to be added. They look excellent. Well done Dapol for taking the plunge. Martin
D826
Fantastic - Dapol deserve to do well with this, and I can see an electic mix making their way to my layout - top notch news and I think the pricing is competitive - look at how much a Tomix L/Q was. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted September 10, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 10, 2011 Well, well. Someone actually takes notice of polls it would seem and Dapol are to be congratulated in coming in at what appears to be a very realistic price level. It will be interesting to see the level of detail, and its accuracy, on the 4mm versions where such things are far more obvious but this looks like a good start which is suitable for the Western into the late 1960s (possibly a little later in a few rarer locations). Christmas could turn out to be a very expensive time this year!
RMweb Gold JohnR Posted September 10, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 10, 2011 This is really great news - I'm really jealous of N gauge modellers! Now, will someone do the same for us folk in 4mm? We've been told for ages its not possible, but this proves otherwise.

Coach bogie
Excellent news. From images, the motormech is not going to be too intrusive below the boards. I am sure it will be possible to convert to other variants using Ratio and MSE parts. Well done Dapol. Not always been your greatest fan but credit where credit is due, I shall be partaking of a few. Bill
Yes please! A truly welcome announcement for us 00 modellers - (bye bye Hornby signals - but you served us well in all your oversized hugeness!)
TomJ
Oh dear, this could get expensive for me! What a great idea.

PLD
Had a good look at the prototype and it looks promissing. There were a couple of things I suggested could be refined - routing of and blackening the operating rod (which Dave says is already being atended to) and brighness of the light (but that should be a case of add resistors to taste). Well done to Dapol for taking the plunge. Paul
