class 37 nose ends

Recommended Posts

Love the photo of 37116 in ll without the cutaway bufferbeam and round buffers :pleasantry: . Also noticed we have shot`s of it from both sides. One question, how lng did it stay like that?:scratch_one-s_head_mini: As the photo shows it next to a tug it mush have been one of the last like that.

Nice one keith,

Here is a pic of a class 37 at Glasgow I don't suppose you know the loco number? I am pretty sure you were with me. Not sure of the date either though must be early 86.

Cheers Peter.

Cheers Peter.

anybody got any good detail pictures of 37081 in large logo?

Grrrrrr! I'd just worked out how i was going to model 37111 (Large logo and named Loch Eil Outward Bound) and now seeing those two photos of it with the odd number placing and original skirts i'm having second thoughts :)

John

Sorry about that ;)

no worries :) i'm trying to decide how to do 37081 and i've been trying to decide for 3 months now! it's either br blue with white stripe or large logo with the odd number style or large logo with standard numbers and small westie or large logo with standard numbers and large westie! so 37111 decisions are far less complicated ;)

I had not seen this thread before, and admit I have not examined all of it.

However, remarkably, it fits with a query I have doing some proof reading. Unfortunately the number is not readable. Would any of the blue, small logo, locos as shown in this thread have been converted by 1971 (pair of headlights replacing the single indicator?). When was this conversion introduced - all in this posting appear to be early 1980s.

Thanks for any help.

Some of my class 37 photographs are at http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brclass37 Rather fortunately I can usually see a 37 when I walk into town - DRS often park one at York station.

I'd agree with Mark after comparing the front end markings on this photo of 37263 - http://www.flickr.co...N08/4238261114/

Good find

I spent ages looking at all the Class 37 single headcode Inverness based locos in BR blue, to try and find one with an Inverness stag

I came to the conclusion it was either 37260, 37261, 37262, or 37263, prior to Large Logo

I then tried to match up the headlamp, as 37263 has it in a slightly higher position from normal

This then deducted 37260 and 37261, leaving 37262 and 37263

I also looked for the unique weathering on 37263, but the photos I found were the other end and no Inverness stag on the other side

You're lucky that id spent ages reviewing Inverness 37's for modelling possiblilties so had quite a few photos bookmarked and saved :) and after months of looking i changed my mind and decided to concentrate on Eastfield ones instead because i prefer split box 37s which Eastfield had more of :D

Funnily enough it turned out to be the first one i looked at which was a pure fluke because none of the other photos i could find of 37263 don't show the markings

Thanks Mark & John,

The link does seem to prove that it's 37263, and it did have a Stag both sides, I had a look at Brian Danials site which shows a pic of the loco from the other side.

While on the subject of Scottish Tractors here is 37261 in 94. No longer a Scottish loco but still with ploughs.

Cheers Peter.
