robgregson1
I have now completed the building of the cottages, shop/pub and church. The layout is starting to look very busy. I have topped up the loch with a bottle of Dapol modelling water. It is now a bit more flat (the ripples looked good but were a bit to much). I have also purchased a farish class 20. Excellent model. Not sure how often they got to Kyle but I had to have one. My fleet of blue locos and blue and grey stock is growing slowly. I have set the date of the layout to circa 1989. My next purchase is to be some suitable street lights, some grain of wheat builbs to light up the buildings and some frieght wagons.
Waverley West
Hi Rob, Just come across your thread. It's looking good! I remember camping at Plockton about 30 years ago now. It was August and I still remember the midge bites like it was yesterday. The worst I've ever experienced! Plockton's a beautiful place though and you've chosen a great location to model. You won't be modelling 2mm scale working (i.e. biting) midges, I presume? I remember the incredibly clear water in the bay too. You could see the bottom so clearly. Your layout's definitely making me want to go back, just maybe not in August this time. Will be watching your progress. Cheers, Dave
robgregson1
Thanks for the comments Dave. I spent a week in Plockton last June and we have just booked to go back in October this year. Such a wonderful place.
