Lincoln Central Station

When I was a youth in the 1970s we lived at RAF Scampton (complete with those wonderful Vulcans!) and my dad used to take me to Lincoln trainspotting. It would have been from 1972-4. we used to spend most of the time on the footbridge because you could see everything from there plus some of the DMU shed and the goods lines (and the coal depot - still open and rail served). My favourites were the two station pilots, D2021 and D2022. They were blue with D numbers when we first saw them but later became 03021 and 03022. The parcels bays were still in regular use at that time.

Happy days and a station I have looked at modelling myself once or twice.

Good luck with the project, it is coming along very nicely.

Hi

Just quick update so far

been busy fitting the boards for the back scene down the main run and been completing the wireing to some off the boards

Also been pretty busy building bridges have 4 foot ones and a road to do

Work has also started on the fiddle yard and the end link sections decided to use surface mounted point motors here just for ease still to be DCC controlled

also had the cables for the cab bus made up by Digitrains from DIgby.

Pictures to follow when i have resized them

Have tio thank Mark MARSA69 for this and for helping with the layout i was going to put this crossing area in the middle off the fiddle yardbut after a discusion it was decided to put one at each end on the link boards makes it easyer to swap locos around instead of tying up the maim tracks in the fiddle.

I can't offer and specialist knowledge or tips about the area, only my admiration for the feel of the layout so far. The generous proportions of the platforms give it real authenticity. There are so many good layouts on the forum but this will be certainly one that will keep my interest, for the next 4 years!
