JeffP
Another truly amazing model. I am lucky that almost all the ones like that, (Peterborough, York, Lincoln) are all places I went to during the period being modelled. Pity you couldn't have got the old shed in............ RMweb Premium Welly Posted June 3, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2012 So the stables complex stood where the former Grand Hotel stands now?
arff999
Hi Jeffp Thanks for the comments Stil a long way to go to be a model the likes of York or Peterbough they really are great models. Looks like RMWeb has most of the east coast modelled JOHN
arff999
Welly No The stables were on the High street on the other side of the road to what was the Great Norhern Hotel. (were cash converters is now) If your in Lincoln you can still see the end wall of the old building its still part of the shop front ,Both the hotel and the stables sit next to the level crossing and old foot bridge Have a look at the plan JOHN
RMweb Premium Welly Posted June 4, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 4, 2012 ^^^ Whoops! I didn't look at the photos of the model stables complex properly - thanks for putting me right!
JeffP
Now looking at that map, you could shorten it so that the High Street becomes Brayford East, and get the rear of the shed in. Thin of it: anice Metalsmith turntable, computer controlled......... You know you want to........

Has the lady who is making the model of the Station buildings made much progress since I saw you at the exhibition? Good to see the updates David
arff999
Hi David Sorry trying to place you as i spoke to a lot of people there but as for your questions Yes both the walls and buildings are townstreet castings go to gether pretty well also look the part, would highly recomend them the owner Pat really great to chat to and has loads of usfull info on how to put bits together to get the best out of them. have a look at some more pics ive done . Troublesome Trucks
Yes, I know Pat quite well, he really is very helpful. The castings always seem to colour up so well if you are prepared to spend the time with them. The addition of some buildings always brings the layout to life. Good luck as you progress. David
JeffP
The wall, grass, weeds and signs look good...........but I'm unsure about the glue bottle on top of the wall, and hiow can anyone shut gates that aren't there? Only pulling your leg. Now.........about that shed rear: you could have the river/canal, and that odd bridge too.......?? Go on, spoil yourself. arff999
Hi Got round to getting the gate for the hole in the main wall just needs putting together and fitting now (hope to do it over the week end if i get time i have a lot to sort out for the waddington airshow) Also managed to get the window frames for the stables building painted they just need glazing and again fitting, not sure what to do inside the windows tho was thinking of making a small wooden box structure to support the building and painting it black spacing it back a little and leaving it like that for now (what do you think) Then i can start on the roof structure and also the tower above the arch. I have now ordered the smaller office buildings to go on the front side of the main structure Also been messing about with the signal box i started last year will post some pictures of it later JOHN
