Sir Madog
A Swiss friend of mine is right now dismantling his BLS-based Marklin layout. He has done a wonderful job of building a close to prototype model of the Blausee-Mitholz station, but has lost interest over the time, as the project eats up too much of his little spare time. He now likes to go into narrow gauge railway modeling and has asked me to design a Bernina line based layout. This is what I have come up with: I wish I had the space & the funds to do something like this!

motorcycle
Forgive me if this is off-topic, but can what's the difference between HO and HOm? Is it different sized track or just different width of locomotives/wagons etc. Could I run HOm stock on HO track? Thanks
buffalo
HOm is one metre gauge at 1:87 scale, i.e. same scale as HO standard gauge but running on 12mm track. Not to be confused with HOe which uses 9mm track and normally represents prototype gauges around 760mm. Nick
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted January 8, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2012 Looks good especially including the lake All the stock is available though he'll need a few marklin locos sold to afford the Bernina Krok and the rotary from the metal range! I'd be tempted to replace the tunnels with avalanche shelters though which are more typical of this section of line. The Bernina runs up and over rather than through the mountain. RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted January 8, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2012 This picture shows a station that might look familiar, and what I mean about the snowsheds, put Switzerland as the country and Bernina as a keyword in their search machine. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=371927&nseq=
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted January 8, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2012 Here's the station building at Alp-Grum from a closer viewpoint, a very attractive building I think.
Sir Madog
Pascal has been captured by the looks of Ospizio Bernina and Alp Grüm (me, too!). Both buildings are available through art & web Not quite cheap, though!
