MILTON KEYNES MRS - LAYOUT REBUILD

As some of you may be aware, we at Milton Keynes MRS took the decision last year to rebuild one of our longstanding, but popular, layouts from the bottom up! The layout, Sherwood-Wilton (more usually know as Sherwood) started life as a shelf-width test track and was gradually extended until it ran through three rooms, utilising tunnels in the walls. Most recently, it was converted to automatic shuttle operation and was especially popular with visitors to our club rooms when we are open at all weekends as part of the Bletchley Park complex.

However, despite its popularity, the layout was showing its age and it was clear that it needed substantial work to return it to a reliable condition.

We are currently part-way through the rebuild project which will ultimately see the layout operating under DCC control in conjunction with Hornby's Railmaster software. This will enable automatic operation with shuttle services, passing loops and shunting operations all being planned for inclusion.

If you're planning to visit Bletchley Park, do drop in and visit us to see the new layout as it progresses. Full details of the project are available on our website at: www.mkmrs.org.uk/layouts/sherwood/
