EBay madness

The small slot cars are allegedly 1/64 scale I believe, but they seem to have an elastic tape measure.... Even the old Tri-ang Minic cars were rather generously dimensioned.

How does one value a layout? They tend to be rather (considerably?) less than the sum of their parts.

For me the main issue with that is the exorbitant price tag.  Plenty available for far less in dusty trays at shows up an down the country that have probably done more mileage in the retailers van desperately seeking a buyer than the real thing.

The seller does say:-

"as I have no longer got an 00 gauge layout."

I did read that.  It just seemed odd to photograph a OO Gauge Train on an N gauge layout.

Not eBay but Hattons.  Who is going to pay £65 for a second hand Terrier that only goes one way?

https://www.hattons.co.uk/439830/hornby_r3528_po02_class_a1x_terrier_0_6_0t_4_in_weston_clevedon_and_portishead_railway_green_open/stockdetail.aspx

Sounds like it has been fitted with a Hattons chip, as they have a tendency to only work in one direction, from my experience.

If youve ever wanted to own a collection of 43 LMS Maroon Patriot 5541 R311 Duke of Sutherlands, now here is your chance...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R311-LMS-PATRIOT-MASSIVE-JOB-LOT-ALL-NEW-ALL-RENAMED-SOME-BOXED-OO974/113758860403?hash=item1a7c8e7473:g:h~8AAOSwEjJc5nm5

The good news is ebay is currently listing another 9 so you could have the option of owning a round number of 51 and have potential to do the whole fleet.

Could a Bachmann 47 really be worth £330 in any case? (The model is not DCC or anything fancy like that, but even if she were?)

The last 47 I bought came as part of a job lot at £30 (she is Tri-ang Hornby and it was nearly 20 years ago, but...).

I did get a second body for her recently ( green instead of blue), but that didn't cost much either. She will probably still be running when the Bachmann one has gone to the great train set in the sky!  :)

Am I buying a box for £330??  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-Class-47/173915815719?hash=item287e30bf27:g:qJEAAOSwtSFc7Gqh

A idea of the livery might help and the item specifics are for a class 37!

Bad day at the office?

Rob

I asked the seller for more details and the loco changed completely!  ;)
