Hi.

I wish to submit this here as seems relevant - to me.

''Just''  caught the end of this evenings BBC 1 's The Bidding Room program.

There is an interesting roundy train set on offer & snapped up.

Probable never made it as far as Ebay !

The other viewer will be in his / her loft now

Ho. its the last item at the end of the show

Thanks

Peter

We can look forward now to all sorts of ancient Jouef  rubbish* being listed this coming weekend. Crumbs, it wasn't even a Playcraft by Jouef set!  There was no mention of the quality of Jouef brand products improving no end when Hornby took over the label.

And - could nobody in the studio know how to put all the wheels on the track? The number of close-up views of the wagons off the rails was amazing.

*There were a few good items produced by Jouef at the time of production of the set in the programme, but not many!

Here's an oddity! A heavily bashed H/D 3-rail 0-6-2T. Considering the level of surgery, it looks strangely characterful? Suspect the tall chimney would foul most layout's loading gauges?

That looks a bit like an underground loco...Metropolitan or Mersey Railway?

Check this out from the same seller of the 37 shunter

looks like Stanier borrowed some parts from Swindon to enhance his princess and then covered it in Strawberry Jam

That is a 1961 era loco.

The front body screw in the footplate is from 1961 on.

The brass safety valves were changed to the smoother type, without the two ridges, from 1962...

The front bogie has been nicked from a wagon...;)

Avoiding the more obvious issues re the loco, my question is: Who's paws are those paws!?

Definitely Feline Furry paws.

Also some Human Paws in some photos...

(The loco has a lot of Hornby Dublo in its DNA...;) )

I know! It's weird, but it kinda works? Apparently it was adapted by the vendor's late father. I imagine a dealer will buy it for its chassis and its novelty will be lost.

It looks like it should be taken around the back of the shed and put out of its misery...

I saw one of the "Bidding Room" programmes by accident, as far as I'm concerned it is an extremely irritation format, where one of the items on offer was a Hornby No.40 clockwork train set from the mid 50s.  Not in the best of condition...  One of the bidders got it, I don't remember for how much.  ebay has a rather overpriced example...

I fear the gentleman posing on the steps appears to favour some rather dubious politics??

Well there does seem to be a certain European feel to the cabin, and is that a shade of Feldgrau he's in....

It's one of those quirky kind of locos that I find actually rather interesting!

Seen a lot worse....

When I was in the USA I bought a very-short carriage which used a 6-wheel bogie as its chassis.  It has a veranda at the end - the sort that presidents used to use in the days when they made their "whistle-stop" political speeches.  I wonder if anyone does a 3D print of Abe Lincoln or Donald Trump in HO?
