Can this be flagged as miss-selling? That's never a L&Y "Pug" in a month of Sundays!

You would have to blame Hornby....

They have issued what is based on a Caledonian Railway Pug as all sorts...

Including, but not limited to Highland Railway, Midland Railway, Huntley and Palmers Biscuits, etc...almost to infinity, if not beyond. ;)

Perhaps we should all watch this one to see if the ridiculous BIN price has any effect on auction results?

It’s interesting, as this is an early Metcalfe kit....

The early Metcalfe kits were not die cut. They were literally printed card sheets that the modeller had to cut the pieces out of and score the folds.

More akin to scratch aids...

I like the use of the phrase “Ready To Cut”....

This is so similar to the current Metcalfe “Ready Cut” kits, so I don’t think that’s accidental...it could so easily be miss read! :nono:

There is possibly a collectors market for the very early kits? ;)

An eclectic mix here, and one wonders what is the point of selling a set of etched metal nameplates that are just the empty fret and no nameplate?

"PLEASE NOTE owing to some non payers a non payment case is automatically open after 8 days and if still not paid will be barred for life this also applies if sent back for No good reason"

"barred for life" mind you!

Is this "... barred for life ..." by eBay? Or by the seller? What happens if the errant buyer outlives the seller? Might said buyer be 'barred' by the late seller's descendants, ad infinitum?

I see it is described as "New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item." A case of misrepresentation surely - I don't see how you can remove the nameplate without opening the package!

I can do better than that.

About 12 years ago I went to the local tip on a Monday morning on my way to work.  Laid in a pile by the "good stuff, possibly for re-sale" was a pile of toy/model cars, of the large 1/32-ish scale variety.  They'd been dumped over the weekend and had been lightly rained on, but were obviously someone's collection, perhaps disposed of by relatives.  With permission I helped myself (I even checked with police that no such collection had been reported stolen) and piled them in three carrier bags in my car boot, there were 144 in total.  A real collection, many had been carefully painted and detailed, they tended to be of ordinary cars rather than exotics.

I cleaned them up and kept about 10% which were of interest to me (or damaged), then a few months later was doing an autojumble and added these to my stall at £1 each.  I'd sold about a quarter of them when another trader - specialising in model cars - came and started picking through them.  He was very polite, made no secret of that he would be selling them on, then after picking 30 or more said it was unfair on me to "cherry-pick" and could he buy the lot?  So all in, I think I made about £120 from something I found at the local tip............

That's why I am making sure that my collections are dealt with properly before and when the grim reaper arrives. I have even started giving some away to those who will appreciate them.

Seems that normal consumer regulations don't apply on ebay? Like the Wild West? Caveat emptor!

Years ago there was an article in one of the model railway magazines (RM Xmas?) describing how the contributor took a temporary job as a binman and collected a good number of model railway items in fair condition.

They most have had a relaxed collection round, wouldn't have the time to do that now!

Very stylish. Similar in dimensions to the screws holding the radiator grilles on our Triumph Herald. Difference being that they are meant to be there...

I bet the plastic floor is nicely cracked too.

Who dares ask for some photos of the underside? :haha: :haha: :haha:

Screw you is probably the answer.

It seems impossible to report misrepresentation. I can't find a category and detailed reason that works.

Ebay's reporting function is effectively useless.  I have given up reporting anything, even when I did managed to find a category of complaint that was vaguely close to what I was reporting, they did naff all about it.

Why have a way to report misrepresentation when we all know everything on e-bay is exactly as described:good:
