This original production Heljan Class 86 is missing a bit more than the pantograph and roof bus bars I think.

Cheers

"Not Quite Perfect"......... In terms of understatement it's close to, "That Hitler bloke was a bit naughty".

Even in perfect condition the original Heljan Class 86 was not quite perfect.

Didn’t that bloke play the Albert Hall once?

Cheers

Sometimes I see an overpriced item on eBay, and I just shrug my shoulders and think good luck to the vendor.

Then sometimes I see a price hike on an item and I simply see red:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194168311285

I’ve only just refrained from contacting the seller and asking if they are raising money for NHS charities or simply cashing in?

I simply find anybody cashing in on this particular item extremely distasteful and disrespectful to the memory of the chap who inspired its creation.

Beyond words - I stumbled on the above randomly, but a quick search reveals a whole bunch of chancers …

Note this first one from Highlands2u is an auction but with a BIN price of £300 -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194193651933

Reckon he got the idea from RocketRailways

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114816010187

acmodelseastleigh at first seems to be at a reasonable price - until, that is, you realise it is for the body only at just under the price for the full original loco - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194140919307

(No doubt he will put the chassis up for sale in due course - have checked all his items but it isn’t there … yet!)

Ameah123 is next -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334014224918

Lilly248-04 has exactly the same

item (including TTS chip) at exactly the same price -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174658155854

Garyh1960 is “registered blind” and this is “surplus to requirements” because he has one for his layout -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324556882231

Yourjokingkarenann is what I thought looking at her listing -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265129719298

I’ve not looked at Bachmann offerings.

Not one is raising money for charity! I

am disgusted.

Beedy Grastards...

The next question should be where did they get the model and how much was paid?

Sorry mate, can only offer you £50, there's a lot of these about.

Do dealers still pay £10 for tank engines and £15 for tender engines / bogie diesels? Or have they notched it up a fiver?

Have you dropped the seller a polite note pointing out that there's a bit missing? (Not said what bit is missing - don't want to spoil the surprise for other followers of this thread!)

Well here's one Bachmann offering, again I don't see anything mentioned about a donation to a charity....except their own

Is that the Borg Collective limited edition?

Perhaps the body is in the "DETAILING BAG”?

You'd have thought they'd put all the wheels on the rails before taking the snap!

Obviously the body is absent because we must be  being invited to admire the DCC installation...  :scratchhead:

and no proof reading of the rather brief description either!

If you check the details, you'll also see that it is "multicoloured" and "unpainted" ...

And I didn't realise that the "Flying Scotsman" was a Midland Railway 0-4-4 tank engine, either ... maybe that's why it is so expensive?!

Maybe not, but a post on one of the Facebook model railway groups naming and shaming them might go viral, then get picked up by the media, amongst whom will be those that also see this for what it is, profiteering on the back of a gesture made by Hornby to honour someone who made a difference, and help raise money at the same time for the charities he supported. And public opinion is a mighty powerful thing ...
