MrWolf
Looks more likely to be a pattern for an overhead crane part than anything railway. 1

Just zoom in and look at that detail! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255115337936 Wrenn. Took on Hornby Dublo 2 rail range after it's production costs had proved more than the original company could cope with, to my mind a questionable business model but what do I know? Hornby Dublo were fondly regarded and the Hornby brand name was worth purchasing by Lines Bros (Rovex Triang) who are still using it, but the models were, let's be honest, to late 50s/early 60s RTR standards at best, Coronation and A4 pacifics dating back to 1938 well below scale length, all locos featured prominent boiler skirts, flangeless centre drivers, and cabs filled with the ringfield motors. Wagons retained the HD solid mazak chassis. Company then released the locos in completely inappropriate liveries, and wagons likewise though to be fair Triang Hornby and Lima were equally guilty of wagon abuse of this sort. If you fill the cab with the motor, why don't you take the opportunity to get rid of the boiler skirts? Retail prices were always high and the models were pretty pointless from a modelling point of view and overpriced as train set items; the intended market was always clearly the collectors. Dapol also took on HD wagons, and have marketed them at much more realistic prices, not to mention replacing the mazak chassis with a plastic version which has it's faults but at least shows daylight where there should be daylight. In short, exactly what it the point of Wrenn from a modelling point of view? £800 for 4 pacifics is about the normal price for such items from this firm, all of them locos that have been produced more recently by other RTR companies to much higher standards and, even now, at lower prices. Even 35 years ago, Airfix's plastic Castle ran rings around the Wrenn ex HD diecast loco in every and any respect you can think of, despite the tender drive! Not so much eBay madness as Wrenn insanity. 2

I may be confused but I think the chap selling the Wrenn locos is asking £800.00 each not £800.00 for the lot I added 3 to my basket as an experiment and the total shows 2440.70 plus 42.70 p&p Regards. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted September 26, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2021 We were discussing the Wrenn products at the Canvey bus museum this afternoon. Quite a few Wrenn wagon models were assembled from bits recovered from the skip outside the factory in Basildon.

Overall, 0/10 for the whole thing. 2

I bought a Hornby Dublo Mica on the 'Bay last week for £5 BIN, £9 with the postage, virtually identical to this one which is 20 times the price. As I replaced the HD chassis the Wrenn's tension locks are not a feature, and the the couplings on the Bachmann chassis I used are better, as are the buffers and wheels. The Baccy chassis is vastly superior in terms of detail than the old HD mazak with no handbrake levers, which is continued on the Wrenn. I'll admit the printing is a little better, but not much; certainly not £94.01 better! Edited September 27, 2021 by The Johnster

That sort of over-valuation wouldn't just get you rejected but probably taken outside for a good kicking. Consider that to recover the purchase cost, you would need to sell one to about one in every ten thousand people, IN THE WORLD.
