Having looked a bit more carefully at the front of it and where the damage is. I think it has been modelled at the exact point it impacted with Bond's tank. Though the explosion damage isn't there from where the tank fired at it. But damage is definitely there.

Shall I grab my coat?

(Though it is a cool model, though pricey :) ).

From the seller of the £20 BIN “Jif” wagon…

Both the above can be had in far better - as in complete - condition for far less.

I don’t know for sure, but looking at all her other railway items listed I can’t tell if the seller is clueless or simply trying it on and hoping for a truly stupid buyer with money to burn?

I cannot actually imagine a scenario in which I would actually buy a Jif wagon, regardless of price

OTOH if you think of them as 6 5-plankers at just over £7 a pop including postage, and don't mind repainting/reliverying...

Just a tad 'too much information'!? I guess it could have been worse - someone might have left the door open! :scared:

I have one of these resin gents, and while I can't now remember how much I paid for it it was much less than this!  Mind, mine doesn't have any people in it, though there is a curious sheep; it is a South Wales layout after all:pleasantry:

It's not quite as open air urinal as this picture I took at the ruins of Burn Naze (L&Y).

That would be rather draughty.

Well, I've just had a squiz, and nothing there is bargain of the century, but at the same time the prices seem to me to be not so badly overdone as to to justify describing the seller as clueless or trying it on.  They are pretty much in line with what other dealers are charging.  I'm sure you could find them all in better condition for less, but this is dependent on luck and a following wind, neither of which can be guaranteed to the extent that you can reliably bank on them.

Looking again, I guess my reaction is because she is asking similar prices for items that other sellers are selling in much better condition - it’s like she looks up a Smokey Joe, averages out prices between the low starting bids of £5 and the crazy dropshipping prices of £80+ and then slaps £38 on a loco despite its missing a chimney and other obvious damage.

Personally, I think that is trying it on! Try selling two cars for the same price, identical other than the fact one of them is covered in dents and damage, and see how far you would get!

£20+ for a single, brand new, four wheeled, short wheel base wagon might be a ‘standard dealer price’ * for a highly detailed Bachmann item, but for a basic Hornby effort in a fictitious livery?

Steve S

* The local model shop sells such wagons more around the £30 mark, but he has business overheads and tax to consider!
