I like the Metcalfe kits, very sturdy and these particular ones are very similar to the houses behind Adelaide. Unfortunately my builds are the usual compromise and not fully accurate! I have started with the boiler cars using either adapted Worsley works sides or chopped up coaches. The boiler cars will also house the power chassis, sitting on top of Bachmann class 108 chassis’s, therefore the chassis detail will be incorrect, but at least I have a reliable power bogie and full interiors of the single and double enders can be achieved. There were 4 different types, which was typical of the variety in rolling stock inherited by the UTA and ultimately NIR! A factory, similar to the type when I first started working way back in 79,has been added to the right of the houses.Some unkempt grass added also, the dreaded ballasting, which I always put off, will need to be done at some point! 7 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The bushes though have forced NIR to send DH No.2 with the homemade weedkiller train to get them under control! The fence in the foreground is for the new Corporation bus depot, while some telegraph poles , bins and people have been added to the entry scene, although one of the people have fainted, probably at the sight of the ballast guys! 4 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yes you are correct about the pigeon lofts, I actually have one that I picked up at a show (remember them) a while back. There were many pigeon fanciers/racers in that area and quite a few lofts. Well they knew where they were going once released! A couple more shots of some more scenery behind the Belfast bound platform representing the ‘bog meadows’ as it was known when growing up. A young train enthusiast has clambered unto the fence to watch the trains while a dog sniffs for a morsel in the bin! Health & Safety & dayglo jackets me eye..... can you imagine a professional railway civil engineer bringing a six-year-old on a site visit nowadays!
