JosephKelly
Hello All, I recently purchased a Lima class 73 "Sir Herbert Walker" in green livery (see image here of original engine http://www.flickr.com/photos/stevekingd1015/3066436138/). I was wondering what kind of passenger and/or freight rolling stock would be appropriate for such a locomotive. Any advice is useful as this whole Southern region business is a bit alien to a Warwickshire lad born in 1984! Cheers, Thomas.

RMweb Premium phil-b259 Posted February 20, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 20, 2012 According to Wikipedia 73003 didn't receive its name (and non-authentic BR green livery - the lower grey band was not present when first built) until 1993 and was withdrawn in 1996 by EWS. It was however the last of the JA type (later 73001-6) still to be in service and as such I would imagine it was heavily used by railtours and suchlike although weekend engineering works may well have also provided work. If you are prepared to be flexible and overlook the modern features then when first introduced they replaced steam engines on goods and parcel trains, however I have read that due to their low power (and lack of ETS) when in diesel mode, passenger work was usually entrusted to the larger 33s. That said there is one photo in the following document showing E6001 with a set of Builled stock while under test http://www.semgonline.com/RlyMag/Electro-DieselLocomotives.pdf
