Boris
Are those the exchange sidings for the scrapyard near the station, they are quite overgrown, but are used quite regularly depending on what there is to Thompsons. Thompsons maintain their own internal rail network with some shunters, one of which may well be an 08, they also have several 16 ton minerals wagons as internal user vehicles. I thick that is the one with the ridiculously long headshunt if I remember rightly.
ste234
Yep, Thompsons Scrapyard use it, there is quite often a rake of the scrap wagons lined up on the overgrown section. I think there is a DVD called the DRS scrap train which shows the whole route the scrap train takes from Thompsons to wherever it goes. lmsforever
Enjoyed that, all those 31,s waiting for scrap what are they scrapping now, it looks a vast area and as you say does look out of place in a residential area although looking at the old industrial residues this is not unusual.Stockton station is interesting as a lot the origonal looks to survive ,dont like the new footbridge looks its made from recycled Russian tanks! ste234
.Stockton station is interesting as a lot the origonal looks to survive ,dont like the new footbridge looks its made from recycled Russian tanks! Quite the opposite, the station used to be completely different, I do not have first hand experience unfortunately, but my Grandfather spent years watching trains there as a child as he lived next to it! Here is a picture from inside: http://www.picturestockton.co.uk/viewpage.aspx?id=4226 The main building (where the clock is) is still there as an old folks home I think. Most of the rest is gone. http://www.picturestockton.co.uk/viewpage.aspx?id=90407 http://www.picturestockton.co.uk/viewpage.aspx?id=5653 And now it is just two platforms and a bridge unfortunately, bloody freezing in winter aswell: http://www.thisisstockton.co.uk/travelandtransport/Stockton-Railway-Station.asp Steven
