The Fall & Rise of the 60's ( was The End of the Tugs?)

Recommended Posts

Amazing that there are these good quality and powerful locos available, yet freight operators are still ordering more brand new locos. Seems like false economy to me.

You seen the ones at Toton ? It would take some serious money to get a lot of those going again I'd wager

Hi Phil,

Off topic, but do you know which 66 that is behind 60091? Ask as I don't think I've ever seen a graffitied 66 before!

Martin

:offtopic:  :offtopic:

It had been moved today, it's 66122.

See the 66 photo's thread for a couple of pics.

Cheers,

Phil

21 October 2016 and I finally manage to see 60087 "Clic Sargent" trundling over Strand Rd in Preston with the 6E32 bitumen empties from Preston Docks to Lindsey OR.

(Although I was stood in the road, traffic wasn't going to argue with the above!)

And starts to tackle the climb towards Preston Station.

Not quite a 60, but here's a quick snap of one of the Ribble Rail Sentinels that shifts the tanks between the exchange sidings and the unloading gantries.

Complete with air compressor housing, shortened fuel tank, ballasted buffer beams and modified cab doors to list a few upgrades from standard.

Cheers,

Mick

A couple from me from around Barnetby on the 31st of October (It's November already!?)...

Firstly DB's 60040 'Territorial Army Centenary' is seen heading west with a Humber Refinery to Kingsbury working...

post-21664-0-86578400-1478202213_thumb.jpg

Next was 60100 working the same route in the opposite direction...

post-21664-0-47439200-1478202218_thumb.jpg

And finally Colas' 60096 working the 6E32/0855 Colas Ribble Rail to Linsey OR (Colas) bitumen tanks...

post-21664-0-54635200-1478202215_thumb.jpg

Here are the links to videos of both the DB workings...I was caught at very short notice for the Colas train so couldn't film it. For those of you who have ordered the Revolution TEA in 00 or have some in N, take note of the length of these trains...scale length workings in model form would cost a pretty penny!

Also filmed the same day was an RHTT with a 68 and 37 either end...worth a watch if you need some inspiration!

Thanks,

Jack.

I was supposed to be playing golf yesterday in South Wales, but it was cancelled due to the fog.

So I had a quick look at RTT and managed to scoot down to Severn Tunnel Junction to catch 60063 on the Robeston-Westerleigh Murco tanks.

60091 and 90036 at Rounton Gates (Between Middlesbrough and Northallerton), yesterday running two hours late- - the only reason I was able to photograph it on my way home from work.

Edit

Anyone know what this emblem is for on the nose of 60091?

Isn't that the 'Star and Scroll' depot symbol for Immingham?
