WNXX news page suggests the original tender list of 3 (60004/014/018) plus 60008 from the 2nd list have been bought for spares by GBRF.

The remaining 7 of the 2nd tender are part of ongoing negotiations but it doesn’t say who with or if spares or repair.

I’ve just spoken to a mate of mine who works for GBRf with a update about the Class 60’s they are getting from DBC.  It’s correct that there’s a good chance that the four that they bought are for “spares” but 60008 is possibly a candidate for a rebuild using bits of 60004, 14 and 18 depending on their condition.

It’s hoped that GBRf will to expand its fleet of working Class 60’s to a minimum of 15.

GBRf has now started using its recently acquired Colas 60s on the Liverpool to Drax biomass trains.

At this time of year there are generally about 5 loaded trains and corresponding return empties per day, Monday to Friday with fewer on Saturday and Sunday.  So far this week 60002 and 60021 are both on the circuit.

60021 approaches Brighouse on 5th February with 6M36, 09.54 Drax to Liverpool Biomass Terminal, empty Drax IIA biomass hoppers.

60002 restarts 6E09, 07.11 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax, from the signal protecting Heaton Lodge East Junction on 5th February.

Seeing 60097 from that angle reminds me that early in their life the 60s were nicknamed (by a few at least) "Politicians", by the fact you can see straight through them!

60091 'Barry Needham' rumbles through Brighouse on 20th February 2019 with 6E26, 10.55 Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton Efw Terminal, loaded Merseyside binliner.

Unusual, but very welcome, to see a 60 on this working.  Gen on another forum suggests that it's only the fourth time since these almost daily workings commenced several years ago.

Despite being away the last few weekends, on Monday I had a chance encounter with a tug, this being DB 60044 working the 6M00 Humber to Kingsbury tanks. I’d seen it was running in an earlier path which meant it’d be light when it passed Stenson Jn in South Derbyshire, and it even stopped at the protecting signal, allowing proper photos and detail shots. To boot, it sounded good when it departed and even slipped a couple of times on the video.

Thanks,

Jack.

Sad to see that Jim:( I remember them turning up at SP brand new and shiny, they made a big change from the dirty battered wrecks we were used to seeing around here at the time. A few more from Warrington.

Still can't get used to seeing GBRf class 60s in de-branded Colas livery.

GBRf 60047 heads through Brighouse on 28th March 2019 with 6M36, 09.54 Drax to Liverpool Biomass Terminal, empty Drax biomass hoppers.

There's a video of the working here.

Not wishing to bombard this thread, but Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and surrounding counties remain the place to see tugs hard at work. Here are a few shots between February and May:

And for those of a nervous disposition, please look away....

Longer Lines

(If you click on any photos it'll take you to Flickr where details of each shot are available)

Thanks,

Jack.

Is that a single HTA at the rear?

(If it is, it must be one of the buffer fitted few to couple to the MRAs)

Cheers,

Mick

Please accept my apologies if this is the wrong message-strand, but I have found the following, showing 60 001's first venture from the Brush works to the railway boundary fence one evening.  I hope it might be of interest.

Nope, one of the last HRAs to be done I believe, buffer fitted and hitching a ride to Bescot...
