Thanks for that; coincidentally I was just looking at whether 60002 was still around, having just had a lunchtime play with a Lima "Capability Brown" that still seems to work perfectly well despite spending nearly 30 years in a box...

I also had the Lima 60002 capability brown when they first got released (along with 001 and 004) then 30 odd years down the line I sometimes drive the real thing!

I love my Lima 60; I hear lots of complaints about the Lima pancake motors but it was always by far my best runner, and even after 30 years in a box it is still perfect. Noisy, but a fantastic runner compared to the other slightly flakey 80s / 90s equivalents.

I must sort out the dodgy axle, though. Has it always been like that? I've never noticed it until recently. If I fix it, will it curse it?

GBRf 60002 'GRAHAM FARISH 50TH ANNIVERSARY 1970-2020' passing through Brighouse on 6th March 2021 with 6E10, 09.55 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station, loaded biomass hoppers.

Whilst it's still freshly painted and hasn't picked up the patina of everyday use, 60002 with a complete rake of IIA biomass hoppers in the latest Drax branding would look rather good IMHO.

DB's 60044 was on the 6E08 Wolves to Toton steel today, and the lure of this and a pair of choppers persuaded me to head to Barrow on Trent at lunch to see the BR workhorse(s):

The livery looks a bit half-baked without the 'Schenker'.

The first trip out on 29th March 2021 after the easing of lockdown restrictions produced GBRf 60002 'GRAHAM FARISH 50th ANNIVERSARY 1970-2020’ hurrying towards Brighouse with 6M36, 09.54 Drax Power Station to Liverpool Biomass Terminal, empty biomass hoppers.

Rubbish shot of 60040 63IP  on the Lindsey to Kingbury this morning at Beeston. First visit to station as I had to collect a expensive item in Beeston. Like that it has lots of original features including the benches on the platform.

Today there was a DCR test run for 56091, however it appears to be 60046 - which was riding inside for insurance - which took the limelight.

The outbound working departed a little late but the grid sounded superb as it passed Wilmorton, just east of Derby and the RTC (in the background):

DCR 56091 & 60046 - 6Z22, Wilmorton (Derby)

DCR 60046 & 56091 - 6Z22, Wilmorton (Derby)

The working only made it as far as Morton Jn near Alfreton, where the locos ran round and the 60 led back to Chaddesden:

DCR 60046 & 56091 - 6Z22 Return, Wilmorton (Derby)

So two shots from the same bridge of the same train but in two different circumstances! I don’t know the cause of the turnback, although the oil staining the tug may be a clue. The grid was powered up and sounded (and looked by the clag past the RTC) as if it was providing power on the return, so maybe it was the tug which was the issue. If you look at the first photo the 60 was already stained on the outbound trip. I’m sure we'll find out at some point!

Thanks,

Jack.

I wonder if 60002 has suffered some form of mechanical failure as it came past us being pulled by another class 60 in former Colas livery as well as a fake of empty hoppers from Drax to Tuebrook sidings or Bootle. Unless this was a positioning move to Save a train path.

Ps it still looks nice and shiny new seen it a couple of times now

It's not the be all and end all, but it's showing normal status on TOPS. Could be a loco balancing move to get it in the right location.

A couple from the other day. 2x 60s (and a Class 40) at Reading, not bad going!

At last some good luck with DC Rail 60028!  After numerous failed attempts at getting a photo of it, 60028, in the attractive blue Cappagh Group of Companies branding, is photographed at Balshaw Lane Junction running very early on the 6C59 Chaddesden Sidings to Carlisle Kingmoor Virtual Quarry.  Chuffed to bits to finally see it . . . In sunshine too!
