It did nothing more than push the wagons from the exchange sidings into the cement works for loading.

A bit of an odd move as 66745 has since come from Doncaster to take over the Avonmouth for tomorrow.

A couple from Swarkestone, South Derbs, on a wet Bank Holiday Monday walk. I was lucky these passed as the first disappeared, and that I took my little camera just in case!

Firstly disgraced celeb 60074, hauled by 66150 on the 200-min late 6E02 Bescot to Boston steel...

Followed minutes later by 60044 on the 6M57 Lindsey to Kingsbury tanks...

Must be a Bank Holiday...

here are a few of mine taken recently.

Taken at a distance with a not very good camera phone, 60062 (I believe) departs Immingham Bulk Terminal for Santon on 16 Jan 2021 on 6T26 I believe.

60010 on 0T01 on the 18th April 2021. (should point out the loco has not just come across an open crossing, that is Simon Storage West crossing which is Train Crew Operated. The loco stands waiting to pick up the ground staff member who has just worked the crossing).

It's not uncommon to get 60s on Santon ore at the weekend and on pilot duties.

You're lucky, all we get on our biomass is DB sheds.

GBRf are currently making plenty of use of their 60s on the Liverpool Biomass Terminal - Drax Power Station biomass workings.  On 5th May 2021 60056, 60076 and 60096 were all in use, with 60002 also on hand at Liverpool but not presently allocated to a working.

We had a DCR 60 down our way on Tuesday, road learning but the reasons why are unclear - possibly assisting DBC with some workings.

Don't see many 60's down our way.

I think that this was another route learner on the way back from Brandon.

One came through this morning but I was too busy on the crossing to get a pic.

It should have been the empties off the first loaded working (see my next post) - but the wagons were left at Brandon so was running as  0Z29, 18:13, Brandon - Chaddesden (22:03) rather than as 6Z29. The suspicion is the wagons will be collected in the next day or two and taken to Kings Lynn, then on to Middleton Towers for the (new) sand to St Helens

Wednesday 26 May 2021 saw the first of the new DCR service to Brandon, it's likely this is a replacement for the DBC Peak Forest - Brandon but no-one seems to be 100% sure.

The train was booked to depart at 18:13 (18:39 onto the main line) but for reasons unknow the wagons were left behind, as mentioned above ^ ^, it's believed they are now empty and will be collected in a day or two and used to form the empties to Middleton Towers for the Ravenhead sand.

Isn't it strange how history repeats itself and no-one ever learns? DBC did a stone run to Brandon and then used the empties to run sand from Middleton to one of the glassworks. They bought new wagons for the run too.

It was soon discovered that the grab unloading at Brandon wasn't actually completely empting the wagons of stone, and the sand was arriving at the glass works contaminated with stone, and was therefore not up to the quality required.

DBC then raided the scrap yard and found a set of rust bucket open boxes that could be dedicated to the sand traffic alone.

It appears that DCRail have yet to learn this lesson, unless they are actually cleaning the wagons out completely by hand? Could that be why they were there for two more days?

As a DBC Driver who has more than once had the Brandon service this is not true at all the DBC box wagons were actually swept out after the grab had done the business. this was done by a little cherry picker type effort, usually hurried as they did cut it very close to departure time.

As far as i'm away these wagons have never been used on the Middleton service (yes another one of our Peterborough turns) The "scrap" as they touted are the ex Ely Potter wagons that have had multiple coverings of the glue to stop the sand blowing out, so actually look terrible now.

P.S we have also had MBAs and Ex EWS Coal hoppers (these did contaminate the sand and didn't last long)

Andy,

As berwicksfinest says the wagons - from Eccles Road when it was weekly - were MMAs and were hand cleaned, I have photos of people in the wagons cleaning them (I won't comment on how they got there - <cough> grabber bucket). I think the older wagons were brought into use on the ince when the Eccles became sporadic and couldn't be relied upon to provide the empties each Friday night, ready for the Saturday morning working to Arpley, which was then tripped to Ince on a Monday morning.
