With a shorter load of empty bogie tankers than usual, 60021 heads back east with 6E32, 08:40 Colas Ribble Rail to Lindsey Oil Refinery, approaching Thornhill LNW Junction on 23rd March 2015.

From a gloomy day in Feb 2015, the every-second-Saturday-afternoon-ish Tinsley-Immingham steel train is about to pass Tata Steel at Aldwarke, which can be seen over the top of the nearer warehouse buildings:

Evening all,

a brief sortie to Barnetby this afternoon - I was in  the area so it would have been rude not to - gave me an opportunity to photograph 60 015 on empty iron ore wagons.  The sound effects as it accelerated through the station were just brilliant and made such a nice change from the ever-present 'ying-ying-ying' of the more usual fare.  The DB red is kind of growing on me too - looks rather good on a grey day and a nice contrast with the scruffy wagons.   Just wish it would warm up though - forgot my heavier coat.  Roll on summer!

Best wishes,

Paul

  • 2 weeks later...

Managed to catch DB Schenker Class 60 with 60011 in charge of the Fiddlers Ferry Power Station to Liverpool Bulk Terminal.  Didn't get to the docks in time to see the GBRf biomass train from Liverpool to Ironbridge Power Station though this morning but saw one yesterday so nice to catch a 60 today.

60011 enters the docks over the crossing

Running towards the coal terminal where it will run around then reverse all the hoppers under the loading tower

At least 60085 and 60096 provide something to smile about, in the midst of some depressing scenes.

Cheers,

Phil.
