Photo Call! 2mm Layouts Out and About at Exhibitions

Hi All,

Thought I'd start a central place for people to upload photos and images of 2mm layouts when they're out and about at exhibitions .All are welcome to contribute on layouts old and new. To get the ball rollings, here's a few off me' phone.

Highclere at Abrail 2012

Pannier trundles along with a loaded train of minerals.

highclere2.jpg

Quiet moment in the goods yard. The transition between layout and backscene really is seamless!

brinspectionsaloon023.jpg

Andy Hanson's 24 rumbles around the new fiddle yard with a long unfitted freight working...

brinspectionsaloon012.jpg

...and later returning with another mineral train.

brinspectionsaloon0138.jpg

A variation on one of the above to try and get a bit arty.

And finally, a little video! There's a little method to the madness of the banking loco here as all the wagons beyond the two fitted 16t minerals didn't have any couplings. So a little skill and co-operation was used to keep the 24 pushing the rear vehicles to keep them them buffered up to the coupled vehicles in front - too slow and there will be a huge gap, too much speed it'll derail the lot. Good fun!

Many thanks to Missy for letting us play - it's going to be quite a layout!

Cheers,

PIx

Hello Pixie.

What a great idea for a thread, lets just hope more people post pictures in the future. Thanks so much for the pictures and video of Highclere too, it was a great day and lets hope we can do it again sometime soon...

Nice photos Pixie - they came out far better than the ones I took. You really do need to fit couplings to those wagons!!

Andy

PS> Minor point, but I think it was Steve Bedding's (Smokey Bacon) Class 24 - mine didn't make it out of the box 'cos someone forgot to fit a chip to it.... :scratchhead:

I am surprised there is nothing from Nottingham last weekend - had the 2mm RWwebbers forgotten their cameras?

Here is my modest contribution from the London Festival of Railway Modelling this weekend, photos taken during a brief break from the 2mm Roadshow.

I must admit I have a real soft spot for St Ruth (Penzance), all those western region hydraulics take me right back to my youth :sungum:

Great pics Jerry - Thanks for posting especially as I really wanted to try and make that exhibition.

Fencehouses is awesome and has changed a lot since I saw it at the GJ expo and indeed St Ruth is looking mighty fine too...love that shot of Andy's 22 along the seawall.

Thanks Jerry and Nigel for the pics from Nottingham. The pic of the 22 shunting the sleepers is a particular favourite. We must get round to putting the Pirates Hotel into that gap though - even though it will probably just be a 'flat' on the backscene.

The 22 wound up doing a lot of work as the station pilot for the whole weekend because more than one Farish 08 proved reluctant to play nicely. We have since provided more volts on the input side of the controllers so we are hoping that the performance of some of the more err... 'classic' mechanisms will be better next time.

I'll post a link on the blog for the benefit of those who don't follow the 2mm forum.

Regards, Andy

Its that time of year again and it looks as though the weather is going to

improve just in time for Camrail this weekend. This years 2mm offering amongst

the regular mix of high quality eclectic exhibits is John Greenwoods beautiful

Wenfordbridge complete with working road vehicles, gantry crane and of course

the full set of Beattie Well tanks. Come and say hello if you can make it to

Bradford on Avon this weekend - just a pleasant two minute walk along the river

from the station. Details can be found here

http://www.titfield....il/Camindex.htm

I know this is a photo thread so I will add some photos after the weekend - promise!

John Greenwood is chatting to Nick Smith (the hairy one!) of Finney and Smith. John Birkett-Smith is at the controls.

Same time same place

Typical North Eastern weather, a dark cloud looms as it looks as though it's about to thunder in that last photo, best get indoors quick! That first photo is great for atmosphere, as you say, and not a train in sight.
