I'll be doing a demo stand at the upcoming DEMU Showcase event a few days time.

Current plan is to have the HRA project front and centre - having just picked up the last few to make a rake of 16.

I'll obviously have some of the yellow stuff there as well.

Come along and say hello.

Cheers,

Mick

A couple of weeks ago, I stripped down the first half of the HTA-HRA conversion (7 out of 16 - one is already done))

And attacked them with a small bench saw. (Proxxon with a diamond blade)

This was the resulting jigsaw.

And after not many hours work, this is where they're up to.

HRA1.jpg.777aa97f5012e96b7805cb9f8510c0b9.jpg

Just a bit of filling and sanding to do and almost ready for paint. ( I reckon it's less than 2 work hours per wagon from start to paintshop - there is an appreciable amount of glue drying time though!)

Decals are being sourced and thanks to Paul for the number info.

Hopefully, the next 8 will follow shortly.

Cheers,

Mick

After lots of cutting, glueing, filling, sanding painting, more filling, more sanding, more painting, sticking bits on, more painting and a final fill, sand  and paint, I now have 16 HRAs ready for the paint shop.

HRA6.jpg.ce9ff39dad25e8f6df42c02d3ecaf159.jpg

I have a limited stock of DB red, but a friend has a spare 50ml tin - I will be visiting soon.

Hopefully, in the next few days, I'll collate my info regarding wagon numbers and dispatch an email with photos and lists to a decal manufacturer........

Two of the fleet have already received holes in the hopper bottoms to feed wires through to pickups on the wheels - these will provide power to a DCC controlled flashing tail lamp that will be fitted at either end of the rake.

Cheers,

Mick

Are you doing 6723 001-7, with it's extra warning flashes on each end, just to be different ??!!

Cheers,

Phil.

Pic please!

Just realised - that's the prototype HRA.....

And this is your pic.

Running a train like this should invite comments at a show!

Large tin of DB red acquired yesterday.

Come to set up the airbrush today and can't find the hose............

Serves me right for having a big tidy up a few weeks ago.

New hose ordered from ebay.

Cheers,

Mick

Nope - it's still not appeared.

But it's bound to turn up son, now that I've stopped looking for it.

Whilst awaiting the HRA decals, a few others were purchased from Railtec for this lot.

They will be applied over the next few days.

37610/37521/97302/37669/33207

Three for test train operation and two for railtours.

610 still needs the upper headlight fitting - the holes are drilled ready.

Cheers,

Mick

Dont forget to fill in the bodyside window on 1 side of 37610, its something people overlook when doing the 37/6's

Don't worry Ed - that's all sorted - I'm usually quite careful when it comes to filling windows and footsteps.

This was 37601....
