Newbryford's mostly Yellow workbench - "it's a drag, man......."

Recommended Posts

Looking good. I have Little & Large on the WB at the moment. Hopefully have them at least in Primer later in the week and hopefully top coat next week. Just done a third fill which should be the last & waiting wheels for the large one now.

I "deflowered" a couple of Virgins last night..........

exVTECs.jpg.8d4482ee830113514cf408f7e6d36643.jpg

Gentle use of T-cut with a cotton bud and cocktail stick to remove the branding and numbers,

I find that gentle scraping (almost brushing) the white paint/ink with the edge of a scalpel blade to break the surface helps to make the T-cut work and not attack the base red too much.

Undecided at the moment if they'll get Network Rail logos as 43290/43299, or with Colas logos as 43251/43272.

leaning towards the Colas pair as I can then make up another test set with the likes of my ex-Caley BUO.

251/257 would work for the model. 272 has the other style of lights, from when it was a Midland power car

Indeed, I had completed 43272 prior to realising the other options. Still I can renumber if I see fit.

I'll be interested to see this one come together Mick. We had 43251 and 274 in to stable in December. Check out all those layers of slightly different coloured red vinyl on 251. I reckon it's Virgin on the original vinyl, then the duller red is LNER, with another dull red patch with EMR before a brighter red patch to obliterate the EMR letters and then a yellow Colas sticker over the top. Does the Hornby model have the black / dark grey lower band missing, or is it a trick of the light? I know Dapol missed it off theirs.

That green HRA stands out from the crowd too, doesn't it!

The black band is there on the model - but not on the box artwork! (Makes a change for the artwork being correct, yet the model isn't)

43251/43257 numbers on the way from Railtec soon.

This lot is bit cheaper than £750............

Average cost of the donor coaches £8.50 (include a donor BSO to provide extra doors and window),  a bit of time, paint, a few LEDs and some Laserglaze

9701/02/03 aren't too far off being completed.

I came across a box full of airfix mk2s - FO and TSOs. If they’re of any use PM me.

Hi Andi,

Ta for the offer but I probably have enough to do all the test fleet a second time round!

Finally got Large or the WB this week, my 4mm one isn't too far behind. Having a nightmare with some of Steve's tiny details, did you have issues too?

The only ones I missed off were the jacking point decals that fit in the extreme corners of the chassis members. I used all the others.  Nearly 60 of them per wagon. (x20!)

Think I have ditched them on the 4mm one too, and I think I've messed up at least one of the 1A etc's! I'm now tempted to try and source some more kits to do some Red ones.

The beginning of a large project. Accurascale HYA shorty hoppers.

Thanks to @njee20 for the stl file for half a hopper so I can practice some graffiti. (Must get round to doing the peeled vinyl effect)

And here's the first of 20 to be treated.

The number is wrong (looking at a replacement decal) and there's a bit of weathering to be done - but I'll save that for when I have a few to do.

I must admit I do like the graffiti on the real thing, I’ve pulled it around a few times

there is a really good ‘Thank you NHS’ wagon been knocking about since lockdown 1, not sure which type though
