I'll be there both days with UKTrainsim.

Kindest regards

John

The Scalefour Society stand will be there both days, and I'll be manning it on the Sunday. Come over and say hello if you'd like to talk about finescale 4mm modelling.

Hope to see you there,

Paul

It was a good show first time I have been to this one I found it a very enjoyable easy show plenty of room well organised.

Here are some pictures of Holland Park that was on show there.

I thought it was a very good show this year.

The catering worked this time (if a bit expensive)

It was noticeably busier than last year, there appeared to be more layouts and the quality of layouts was very good.

Our take was about 20% up on last year and we made more sales so it was good for us!

My only gripe is that I was too busy to get a decent look around!

It was nice to chat with a few of the well known and lesser known faces of RMWeb, and it was also good to see all those FEAs put to good use on Holland Park!

Was very disappointed by this show, while there were some good layouts, I found the trade very repetitive (theres no need for that many people selling exactly the same stock at pretty much exactly the same price!)

Too much trade in comparison to number of layouts, (and too much unused space as well.)

If this had been a show charging ??5-??6 entry it would have been a good day out, but having had to pay ??10 to get in I felt completely ripped off! (also felt very foolish having checked the website to find out where it was and what time it opened, didnt see the price! wish I had looked a bit better (or more to the point the website had been a bit better designed!)

I thought the trade balance was pretty good overall.

The costs of running an event like this are immense Bear in mind this is a VERY large venue - the main hall alone is 42000 square Ft. That is a hell of a lot to fill, and it is expensive to hire. Expenses need paying to the layout operators, the free shuttle bus also has to be paid for, as well as all the advertising. when you consider this, the ??10 entry fee isn't so bad. Its only the cost of three pints down the pub these days.

I believe last years show resulted in a net loss for the organisers, despite the ??10 entry fee

This year there were more layouts and more traders and a pretty good attendence, and hopefully a profit for the organisers to help toward the costs of next years show.

Considering this is only the second year of the show, the organisers did a very good job. The amount of unused space was considerably less than last year, and it won't be long before there is no spare space. It takes a few years for a large regional show like this to become established, so don't write it off just yet.

I'm not wanting to be an apologist, but I'm sure you'll encounter many of the same issues if and when you decide to organise your own regional show, and start looking at the costs...

I visited the show again this year and, just as last year, I was impressed by the venue.

The catering is streets ahead of Ally Pally the NEC and ExPoEM, I take pack up to those, not that I go to Ally Pally anymore.

The layout of the main hall with the seating for those who need to take a rest should be followed by other venues. The wide aisles, so there is not the constant feeling of being a buffer in a pinball machine, make the day more pleasant. The layouts were all to a good standard and the division of specialist trade from the mainstream vendors works well for me.

Best of all it is close to home and the parking is free. The advance ticket arrangement work fine and the additional discount for subscribers to BRM made it even more pleasant.

For me it is the most all round enjoyable show.

Very much enjoyed on Saturday but spent too much! It was the biggest show I've been to since the Royal Hort Halls show in the early 80s. Was impressed by the space, the wide aisles and even the catering. Picked up plenty of bits and pieces from the specialists, got a Replica BR(S)Surbuban Set (on the list for a long time). Excellent layouts too. Much enjoyed and well worth the trip over from Norwich. Only disappointment was at Peterborough station when just missing Duchess of Hamilton passing through.

I went on Sunday to help out on two (trade)stands, the overall feel of the show was well balanced but I would liked to have seen a few more Layouts to stand over :icon_drool: :icon_drool: :icon_drool:.

I to had spent too much but Items that are need for a future project when I retire (If the government lets me.)

Terry.
