I have noticed more liveries have been announced (Olivia Trains doing GBRf's and Gatwicks), i wonder can we have an updated list of all liveries being produced and with whom to buy with? RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 12, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 12, 2012 (edited) (im especially looking out for NR 73138) I wonder if it'll have the camera and extra lights? No doubt someone'll do a "paint it yellow" LE http://www.flickr.co...nes/6111913057/ I'm looking forward to the 73 Cheers, Mick Edited November 12, 2012 by newbryford
DapolDave
Hi everyone, Here's a latest look at our upcoming OO class 73 model. This is the 'JA' version , with the 'JB' with me in a week or so. Feel free to comment if you spot anything. I've just received this file so i havent had a good look, but noticed rubbing plate marks are not there, and i'm not 100% happy with the lack of tread on the steps, or the exhaust. Anyway, enjoy. cheers Dave
meld
Hi Dave, Body/chassis mounted running board forward or the Bogie steps is missing Just visable above the white plastic tank on the RH side. HTH Mike
DapolDave
Hi Mike, Thanks for that. I'm in meetings all afternoon and will make a debug list for this 'JA' later on, possibly tonight as i have promised an update today on here. cheers Dave
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted November 29, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 29, 2012 Hi Dave, Looking pretty good so far. To add to Mike's post, the cables on the bogies are also prominent as shown on Mike's photo. Within the limitations of the moulding process, will you be able to include a representation of the cables on the bogie moulding?
Starscream
Looks very very nice DapolDave. there's 5 small things that I think could be improved on. 1: The fan on the roof could do with the blades being thicker.... the blades should be around double the width at the root, thinning to about 2/3rds of the width at the tip. They're also not flat blades, they have a curve to them at the root flattening out slighty as they get further out. You can just about make it out in this picture: 2: The vertical bars on the bogie steps are a bit chunky, and if they're plastic, it'd be hard to achieve a prototypical look. If the bodyside and rood grills are to be etched, then perhaps the bogie steps could be too? This isn't too much of a problem... most people won't care, and those that do can buy aftermarket parts. 3: The high level brake cables look a tad too high. There's a little bit of flesh between the edge of the window frame and the top of the brake cable mountings. 4: There's a short step on the side of the bufferbeam bracing, effectively a line between the extended step on the bogie and the buffer beam area. This step has a hole in the back of it, which allows the wiring from the ETH plugs to go through it and up into the body. 5: This one is a bigger one. 73's have a brightly painted bufferbeam, and there's a thick white pipe that coils under the left-hand buffer (looking at the front). There's also ETH and a multitude of other cabling that decorates the front. It could be that numbers 4 and 5 are seperate components that can be added later, so these may be irrelevent. With the need to have tensionlock couplers moving, I can understand why these may not be aparent on the CAD drawings. Whatever the case, the CAD images looks for a very fine model. The fuel tank, compressor and other details between the bogies look exceptionally good, so please don't be disheartened by my feedback comments. Cheers Dave
DapolDave
Hi Dave, Not disheartened at all. It's constructive criticism so i'm good with that. lol If i get get an ultimate 73 (or as near as) then i shall be a happy bunny and this forum helps us all, me to get a good model out there, and you guys to get a good and accurate model to run. Cheers Dave
DapolDave
Oh and just as an aside, Every separate component is a different colour from the item it's attached to, so you can see the individual parts on this model easily. cheers Dave
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 29, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 29, 2012 Where does the tension lock go?? http://www.flickr.com/photos/donglos/4109358253/ Keep up the good work Dave! Cheers, Mick
RMweb Gold Godfrey Glyn Posted November 29, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 29, 2012 Many thanks Dave for posting these, its looking good and I anticipate it costing me a small fortune! Just a few photographs that support the views expressed by Starscream and Meld regarding the conspicuous cables on the bogies, the height of cables on the front of the loco and the small running board at the front of the bogies that is attached to the body. I hope they are of some use. Many thanks for posting the developments, Godfrey
Dogmatix
May I suggest supplying a set of replacement shorter 'retracted' buffers for running with SR EMUs? Also, I see that the NEM pocket is moulded into the bogie frame Bachmann-style, so no close-coupling :-(
tomstaf
Hi Dave, It's taking shape nicely. I agree with all the points above but a couple more to add with some illustrations to help. Now please please please scale this up to 7mm 1) The pipe holders for the jumper cables are welded onto pieces of metal (circled in orange) which are proud of the cabfront, which are't on the CAD. 2) The buffer shanks have a large pin (circled in pink) at the end of them allowing for them to be turned, recessed, and locked which is missing on the CAD. This is the characteristic feature on EDs so really really needs including. 3) I've attached a pic of the white pipework (circled in orange) under the second man's window which is missing form the CAD. The pic is 73119 which I downloaded of flickr a while ago and forgot to keep the reference. 4) I've also attached a pic of the tread pattern on the steps above the buffers incase you can't find yours hehe. 5) Can you get some holes in those bodyside lugs please? 6) Lastly I can't see the ariel above the driver's window on the CAD. Is this a separate part or did it get missed? I hope you can make these few amendments to push the standard towards the "ultimate" 73 Cheers Tom Edited November 29, 2012 by tomstaf
Multiple identity account 2
Hi everyone, Here's a latest look at our upcoming OO class 73 model. I want one right now!!! My wishlist is just growing with Dapol and Hornby items. Can you let us know when is the Class 73 coming out?? Atleast as estimate coz I need to start working out what to spend where!!?
Earl Bathurst
Hi Dave looking really good. Looking forward to seeing it. Will Dapol be releasing an unpowered version similar to what you do with the N gauge? Also when is the 73 due to be released roughly? Scott
RMweb Gold TomE Posted November 30, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 30, 2012 Looking at the photos posted above and the head on CAD view, is the bottom of the cab front windows missing the slight curve down towards the edges which gives the prototype a slightly 'droopy eyed' look? To my eyes, it looks like the CAD has perfectly straight bottom & top edges? Tom.
DapolDave
Hi everyone, i have sent China a list of 42 items to change this morning including a lot of your list, so thanks for that. As the 'JB' cad/cam was due next week ive asked them to hold off on it and correct the JB before sending it. Hope this is ok but i'd rather show you the progress made as it metamorphss, metamorff, metamoorpho...............changes :-) cheers Dave
Kal
HI I could not see it mentioned here, but will you be using Plux for the DCC connector and has it got room for a speaker built into the design, if so what and where. Best Regards Kal
