Crazy situation here - Train has to observe road traffic lights, even pulling upgrade. Horn altercation with a truck also. Never seen anything like this before. The Norfolk Southern driver dithers a bit, misses a couple of very short timed green lights then sets off throwing out lit fireworks !! (fusees) but  a bit further on the CSX guy times it niceley and barges through !!

Strange & difficult that the crew is expected to follow road signals while propelling, must be difficult to judge where & when to stop when the front of the train is about 250' ahead :O

That's what conductors with radios are for!

Here's a new youtube street running video from Jack London Square in Oakland. It's a short video 'cos they move fast out here in California.

In the meantime I'm making good progress on building the street track to model US street running.

The link to the model track testing video is https://youtu.be/5glFF-j1p2o

Hi Andy

The hotlink to the Jack London Square video is wrong it's directing to:

https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/55031-street-running-in-the-usa-or-canada/page/24/&tab=comments

Which is the top of page 24 in this topic.

If you type in the address using the text it says the video is private

This picture was not taken in front of the train. This picture was taken in the back of the train. This is a picture of a Georgia Southwestern Railroad train in Columbus, Georgia. The train is shoving backwards along 6th Avenue towards the yard. Columbus is about 110 miles(176 kilometers) southwest of Atlanta via the Interstate 85 and 185(I-85 and I-185) freeways.

Here's a 1992 picture of the Southern Pacific in Corvallis, Oregon. The train is running down Southwest(SW) 6th Street. Corvallis is about 77 miles(123.2 kilometers) south of Portland and is the home of Oregon State University.

In this particular case the cars are separated from the tracks by curbs. Effectively it's a private right of way down the middle of the street.

Same as Ashland VA where the double track line splits the two carriageways, effectively it is running in a wide central reservation.
