A Google search for Hardendale Quarry will give you more recent views of the area.

On the right going north as you top the summit. (Not that you notice the summit in a 390)

Very nice photo, thanks for sharing. Small turntable far right, was it just for turning wagons or were they only small engines that worked this line - anyone know?

The 23'6" turntables at Yelverton and Princetown were provided for turning snowploughs. They were too short for the 4400 class locomotives which usually worked the branch.

Lovely flowing pointwork, but let down by the dead straight track, looks contrived.

… and parallel to the baseboard edge too.

I do like how they’ve used that fence line in the background to disguise the join with the back scene though. But maybe that’s why they’ve used a black and white photo.

It’s amazing how much time it took to make the scenery in this diorama, especially the trees that hide the bottom of the back scene. However the finished job seems to work with the super detailed 47 and the faux Pullman MK2 brake. The natural light out in the garden and whips of smoke from the neighbour’s bonfire adds to the realism…..
