I could say guess where. Jamie Great weathering on the loco but that backscene needs some work. The building is so obviously low relief. Popular Post Johann Marsbar
I always think this one looks like an N Gauge layout.... Taken from the A6 looking down at the Blackwell Mill area back in 2000.

That was taken from the dome car on The Canadian on my first visit to Canada, in the days when it travelled the CP route across the Country. Didn't make an exact note of where it was taken but obviously where the CP & CN lines run on either side of the river!

That would cover a large part of the 230 km from Hope to Savona along the Fraser and Thompson Rivers! I think it’s between Lytton and Spences Bridge on the Thompson. Having looked at my Canadian Rail Atlas, your guess as to location seems about right.

Jack374
Found this, linked from Flickr… There’s just something about the background that looks like a painted backscene, although when I look at it again maybe it’s more "when the real thing looks like train sim"!! Thanks, Jack. 10

Johann Marsbar
This is the same location 13 years later..... Looks like the original image might have been "tweaked" a bit - something I had to do when I scanned in my old slides from that era. The 185 shot was taken with a digital camera. 5

It's definitely the Thompson Canyon. The Fraser canyon is much more wooded. Here are a couple of photos. The first from 78 shows a CN train in the Fraser canyon. The next from 1979 shows roughly the same stretch of the Thompson canyon as I think your photo is taken.
