ian carville
Hi. I have just bought 2 lima mk3 coaches and when i ran them on the layout they were making a derailed rough noise even tho they were on the rails. I have tryed to replace them but no other wheels will work. How can i get new wheels for them that work.
Il Grifone
-The problem is almost certainly the deep Lima flanges running on the rail fixings and not the rails. The solution is to replace the wheels, but Lima vehicles normally, and IIRC the Mk IIIs are no exception, use 24.5mm axles of 2mm diameter. Gibson and others can supply wheels with these axles or, as an alternative, suitable wheels can be removed from their axles and fitted to the Lima axles. The non insulated Lima wheel can be very resistant to removal however. As a further alternative the complete Lima bogie can be replaced with a Hornby one, which is the solution I have adopted on my own coaches.

RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted April 28, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 28, 2012 You may be able to get replacement wheelsets from Charlie Petty of this parish (http://www.dckits-devideos.co.uk/). Railwayania used to do them, but stopped due to the pricing of the parts getting too expensive.

Il Grifone
Some here (I can recommend the seller, as a past client). There are claimed to be nearly 3000 available and on special offer! They do need hooks and wheels however. http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_1372wt_1112 Mine came from the old 'shortie' Hornby Mk IIIs, which can often be obtained cheaply on eBay or from swapmeets etc.
