jrcar
G'Day all, I've been a lurker here for some time and have learnt a lot. I wanted to share some recent work by a couple of friends, Colin Bolin (who has done the 3D artwork for the following models) and Peter Boorman (who casts and sells the models under Peter Boorman Workshops). The first is an N scale New South Wales 442 locomtive to fit an Atlas SD7/9/24/26 mech a detail shot of the side And the nose. Second is an N scale Victorian Railways C class to fit a Kato SD-40 As a manufacturer in brass (and injection moulding in China) I now feel that we are on the cusp of the demise of the brass master. Using a multimedia approach, lost wax and brass for detailing and handrails, the rapid prototyped master is the way to go from now on. Looks like I need to practice my 3D more... jrcar
Here is the model painted. I used the Alps printed decals supplied in the kit. I undercoated the model in Tamiya Fine undercoat (Which is white), masked the white then painted the body Accuflex Signal Red. I then masked and painted the black. Gave it a gloss coat from a Tamiya spray pack, applied the decals, then a coat of Testors Dullcoat. Need to give it a good weathering now, most of the time the "white" roof was black from Alco grime!
