Hi James, thank you for the complement and with EFE having done, or doing 1938 tube stock, the idea of using the Stanmore plan becomes more appealing. Also, I can use the single slip instead of a right hand point as it leads into the far end of the sidings, off the main.

I normally model Southern Pacific in San Francisco Bay Area in the 70's but with that, I'm going to use Woodland Scenics foam track bed which has a high shoulder but with my underground layout, should I lay the track direct onto the boards or a thin layer of cork. The underground track profile on the surface lines still seem to be very "flat" in comparison to BR/Network Rail etc.

Hi Graham, I must admit that the 3rd and 4th conductor rails on the double crossover leaves me with dread but if I take my time, I should be alright.

Hi there, things have been a little quiet because I suffer from MS and had a bad few weeks but, things have improved so I should be able to do some report progress soon.

Hello gang, recent update for everyone. Decided to go for the KISS (Keep it simple stupid) principle and keep the whole layout on three 4ftx1ft boards. I sold the station building as I wanted the new low relief Underground station entrance that Bachmann are bringing out later this year. It will have a single platform edge using a Metcalfe kit I purchased today.

I want it to look like the station has been modernised but reduced to one platform. I know that the platform should be long enough to hold 8 Cars but space is a premium, not only on the layout but in the fiddle yard. So I plan to have the platform long enough for a 4 Car A60/62 or EFE 38/62 tube stock. The scissors crossing will be used but the other line where the other platform used to be, is now used for stabling trains or used for "Steam on the Met" or other specials,

Now I have the platform kit, progress should start to take shape very quickly. I plan to make a mock-up of the station building until the finished model arrives, so all the diamentions are correct.

On Friday, I took a trip to Hillingdon Hill and Uxbridge station to get some ideas for the station building. The one I was going to use will not fit in the rest of the area, so if anyone has any ideas on a suitable building I can modify, please feel free to comment.

Here are the pictures of Uxbridge station, taking careful note of station signage, where CCTV cameras were placed, buffers and train stop lights, destination boards and flower beds etc.

Wait, what?

You managed to photograph all that during the olympics without being arrested?

Congratualtions! :)

I have had a look at Metcalfe's Stone Built Wayside Station and I think this could be the closest to the station I need. It is based on Bradford-on-Avon station and as I have worked there in the in the past, in the ticket office working for Wessex Trains and First Great Western. Having worked for both LT and WessexTrains/FGW, it would be a great link to have this station and LT stock. Comments please.

Sorry for not keeping up to date but I have had a bad few months with my MS playing up and had to go into hospital to get a cancerous lump removed. Good news is that I have got started again, track has started to be laid and wired up for DCC. Also bought the Bachmann Metropolitian set, so I have two pannier tanks, both with DCC but one with sound.

I will be taking some more pictures over the next few days so it will be interesting to hear your comments.

Hi gang, the two baseboards for the scenic part of my layout have been built, each one 4ftx1ft. Not sure how many fiddle yard baseboards will be built but they will be to the same diamentions. It is designed to be portable and shown at exhibitions.

The left side will enter a tunnel entrance to go into the fiddleyard, on the right side, the station buildings will sit above the right entrance to another fiddle yard. I have placed several buildings to a sense of scale. I will show the progress as I go along.

In passing, the original layout at Liverpool Street - i.e. the inspiration for Minories - had a very short head shunt for the bay platform.

Just long enough to take one of the lectric locos without fouling. Long gone of course, along with the bay, but I wonder if under the

rather temorrary buildings over the bay any track or buffers survive. The logic behind the bay might still apply for your proposed.

Hi there, up until 1984, the original trackwork remained and as LT was financially strapped for cash, it would have cost them more to remove it. I beleive that the pointwork remains but due to be removed when then next set of engineering in the area, all to do with upgrading S7 stock.

Hi Gang, just thought I would give you a update. The two tunnel portals have been done and trackwork in the progress of being laid. The backdrop has also been painted and maybe needs a little toning down.

When the track has been nailed down, I will post more pictures of the layout.
