gridwatcher
OK everyone, Glasgow ModelRail Scotland is upon us, please come and say hello to the SDEG lads if you visit the show, we are extremely friendly (especially the Geordies) Here's a few images of the sort of scenes we are trying to recapture, you can tell us in person whether we have succeeded!? You won't miss our CP uniforms!
RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted February 20, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 20, 2018 Where's the second photo taken? Can't be Portugal with the siding/loop in that (good a) state.

Neils WRX
Saw the layout in the flesh today, totally spot on!!! My wife liked the storks and the cafe outside the station as well as the background sounds. I liked the trains, it was just as I remembered Portugal, only very minor comment was the1961 needed more of a chug-chug Sound!! It was the layout I spent the longest looking at, at an excellent exhibition.
gridwatcher
We had a great time at ModelRail Scotland and scooped 2nd best layout trophy too which, for a rather esoteric subject matter layout, is pretty good. Many thanks to all the lads who helped (most of whom are on photo here) Especially Andrew who came from Portugal, Iain from Stoke and Ben from Lincolnshire..... Onwards and upwards. We are going to Wigan Show and hopefully further afield too at some stage in the fuuture? Thanks to Iain Adam for some of the attched images.
woodenhead
Personally I'd say best in show at Model Rail but they had to give top honours to a Scottish themed layout.
Nick_Burman
I am struggling to find any Nick. The reality is the the (small scale sized) hooks on the locos will lie with links downwards and unprototypically the links from the wagons will be hooked onto the locos. Works in all our OO set ups and should here (though I can hear some choice Portuguese swear words coming!!) Internet is your friend - the whole world of Weinert parts at your hands: https://www.weinert-bauteile.de/ Cheers NB

gridwatcher
Subject to final confirmation you will be able to see Campo De Leste at Wigan's rather fine show in 2020. We hope to be adding a UK show for 2019 calendar and possibly another?
gridwatcher
Welcome back freshly repainted 1415. We thought this old girl was a goner when she fell off the turntable at Regua a few months ago but she was largely unharmed and is back in traffic.

Neils WRX
https://www.sudexpressmodels.eu/news/post/5 There are more 'Mooses' coming....... but do we need more? I saw that on their FB Page. The question you have to ask yourself, is do you have the running number or that livery in your collection? If the answer is no, then place an order!!! If the answer is no, then place an order!!! Neil The answer is Neil that we wil renumber them anyway as the number sheets are in our possesion and yes the fleet will increase by one later style Orange one. The yellow job is too modern for us

The yellow job is too modern for us Must be honest I’d buy the yellow one as well but just make sure that it wasn’t on the layout at the same time as an Alco!! gridwatcher
The prices of Portuguese Norbrass stuff with runs of sometimes as few as 200 locos have gone through the roof. This Portuguese modelling is a chingy business! https://www.facebook.com/groups/409098499162789/permalink/2012373825501907/?sale_post_id=2012373825501907&rt=11 Edited May 19, 2018 by gridwatcher

gridwatcher
We would need to over head wire the layout? It has been discussed......! gridwatcher
In other news we have been invited to show Campo De Leste at Perth Show 2019 at Dewars Rinks the last weekend in June 2019. Cannot wait. It is 'likely' to be Campo's only outing of 2019 so if you are keen to see the layout i the flesh please make plans now for a weekend in beautiful Perth
gridwatcher
What got it all going for me. Feb 2004 at Barreiro (over the Tagus from Lisbon). Variety., namely by build: French, Bashed English, English, Portuguese (English design), French, Portuguese build American design and Portuguese built English..... don't go to Barreiro station now. You will be rather disappointed!

RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted September 13, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 13, 2018 If anyone is in the Lisbon area on 22-23 September, according to this flyer there's an exhibition on in Oeiras (nothing to do with me, but thought someone might be interested). gridwatcher
Thanks, meanwhile in Portugal.... our intrepid local correspondents Andrew and David who both live locally had a trip to Entroncamento where the 1550s are stirring back to life... so what is going on? News to follow. Poss Takargo work and red paint? Could spell trouble for the ASTIs? Always a puzzle why the simple and reliable 1550s got stopped and the Astis fumbled on to me? The 4700s are being painted to Medway Black and yellow There is also 'wibble' that 2600s (Alstom electrics) may be back on freight....but that may be wibble.
