I know many of you who drop in here occassionally will be sick of the 'will they ever happen' MLW messages but here we are, conclusive confirmation that in the next few weeks the MLWs will arrive and our two will be sound fitted for a mere €100 extra!?

Anyone on the PT HO downlow might be able to give me a nudge to where I might source a single Sorefame split specifically from S1019. Seems to be a UK thing to buy a pack, then re-sell separates? I do not mind whether it's S2240024 or S2240035 and I would pay a good price for one - knowing these Sorefame's would never be made again. I never seen them on eBay and I've been told not to trust Olx.

With Modelismo Artesanal having shown samples of their 9020 metre gauge loco and napoli coaches I thought it was about time to crack on with some 3d printed stablemates. This is the 9630 DMU which spent most of the last 2 decades covered in graffiti. I still need to add some corrugations on the lower bodyside. I have an old 12mm gauge tram mechanism which will power one car, and some TT scale bogiea for the  other.

Corrugations added (I did these in evergreen but I believe they have been improved on the actual 3 print now) and slowly picking out window frames. No graffiti for this one as it wasn't a big thing in the era I am modeling, but I do want to model a unit that has been daubed later on.

Possibly the cheapest thing I have ever made for a Portuguese model.

Building is a broken Triang station for £3.50 on Ebay.

Stonework is lasercut card sprue

Azulejos off the internet.

and spare Redutex of course.

the canopy is leftovers of a dodgy Outland models shed roof which I already used half of.

Total cost about 12 quid.

it will do until I can afford a nice Maket for you model at 160 euros.....

@gridwatcherCame across these on the saleroom auction site today, not sure if it is of interest you?  There may be other CP stuff, these were the only ones I saw.

You legend @sjp23480! I have sourced S1019 for a mere £140! I would have been willing to pay £500 or €600. Picked up several other CP items at bargain prices. Temped to sell to the various shops in PT now, as the prices they command for second hand is insane! Thank you!

@159220 you are very welcome, I saw these items and thought they may well go for bargain prices - glad you manage to bag a couple of them.  Will keep my eyes peeled for more CP stuff in the future.

Well that went errr. well? I ended up with more stuff than I bargained for, probably bid against myself at one point?? Total online auction novice and others (well known in these parts) have ended up with a truckload of bargain German/Austrian etc stuff too. Auctions are dangerous places but I am happy that I got stuff that I wanted and didn't overpay for the specific items. The stock was absolutely MINT and BOXED and in many cases RARE too.

I had wondered who the competition was, first time auction buyer too. I didn’t attend live but made pre auction bids including a mad moment of £1019 for S1019 (Armando made it very clear to me the Somefames were a one off, so how do you price something priceless)! When I want something, I want it! Now I want to actually own 1408 when replaced by the Flirts in 2023… wonder how much that shall cost hahaha

The 'White Stork' has landed....Campo De Leste has migrated south of the Border to less inclement surroundings and has taken up residence (not on a cart wheel mouted on the cimney) in a prpose built railway room in Sunny Norfolk. We are still available for shows and more news and photos will follow.

Thanks

The deadly silence from both Portuguese manufacturers of buildings to my messages, led me to look elsewhere for a station building. This is a very simple bash of a station kit made by Parvus in Spain. Coming in at under 40 quid including post, it has come out rather well for a Spanish prototype.

I've just got back from another excellent trip to Portugal, my pictures are linked below Rick Skateboard

As my head is now full of thinking about Portuguese modelling, I wonder if anyone who has a Sudexpress CP 1400 model could take a few measurements for me?  I'm intrigued by the broad gauge on HO track situation, and I wondered if the loco body is scale width or not?

I've got a drawing in front of me that says it should be 3000mm wide over the bufferbeams, 3260mm over the widest part (cab steps?), and 2000mm between buffer centres.   I'm assuming the models are 1:87 scale, which would make it 34.48mm over the bufferbeam, 37.47mm over the cab steps, and 22.98mm between buffer centres.  I'd be interested to see how the model sizes up to that?

Here's a shot from last week.

Rick

Keep a keen eye on this thread as I have decided to have a go at doing a Portuguese layout in O gauge. Brave I know, foolish yes. Have an Alco courtesy of great modelling pal Chris Prior. Just working quietly on a scratch built o gauge station building. Will start a thread once I’ve got this weekend out the way - Nouvion going to the Winchester o gauge Continental show.
