hayfield
Over the past few weeks we have duscussing ways to increase the membership, and if anyone is in the South West Herts area they are welcome to come down and see us. We have a large 4mm scale layout which is in the process of being converted to run on DCC as well as DC, Its good ro see locos running with full length trains. Work is progressing on out 7mm layout, trackwork is currently being built and the first light-weight (foamboard) base board is nearing completion Work is also continuing on rebuilding Ehon Bridge which was an early P4 layout And thoughts are now on building a new P4 layout. The other week one of the members said how he would like to build a model of Stanmore Village ststion (LNWR), after quite a few chats over coffee we have decided to look into the feasibility of making a P4 model of the station with a view of putting a proposal to the committee for funding. And anyone interested in Narrow Gauge, we have a small 0-16.5 layout taking shape. Should any of these activities wet the appetite of anyone interested in railway modelling please come and see us. Whilst those with modelling skills are very welcome so are those with little or no modelling experance as model railway clubs are the best places to learn new skills
hayfield
Last night we had an interesting chat about building Stanmore Village Station in P4 gauge One of the members borrowed a DVD about the branch from the libary and we watched it on his laptop. Very interesting as it had a few short films from different times, even a black 5 bringing in the daily goods train and shunting!! It was decided to get a large scale map so we can draw up a scale plan in 4mm to see what size it comes out to. Looks like there will be about 5 of us taking part in the build and the clubhouse might get a bit busy with an 0 gauge layout being built on one side, P4 on the other and with the 00 gauge layout at the other end of the room. Anyone interested in popping down to see us will be very welcome

I have quite a bit of info about the line and my partner works on the Heath Centre which is on the site of the former Belmont Station. The last passenger train to run the branch ( as far as Belmont) was a Park Royal Class 103 and this unit is still in existence at Trevarno on the Helston branch in Cornwall.
