The Club

Are you interested in railway modelling or just railways in general and keen to share your interests with others? We welcome new members of all abilities from newcomers and novices to master modelmakers. All ages are represented from 12 years upwards, and all members have the opportunity to work on a variety of club projects in various scales, gauges and eras, or can develop their own models and l ayouts within the club. We meet every Friday evening from 19.30 to 22.00 (7.30 to 10.00pm) in the Carrington Room at the Community Centre in Princes Risborough postcode HP27 9AX. A hot and cold drinks bar is provided as well as the use of a TV and Video so that members can view videos/DVDs during the meetings.

 

Club Room

We have the good fortune to possess a modern permanent clubroom within the Community Centre in Princes Risborough. This room is well equipped with workbenches, vices and drills etc. for all our railway-modelling activities. Access to this room is possible at any time, with layout project working groups often taking advantage of this option on weekday evenings and weekends. We meet each Friday and one Saturday every month, we have the use of the adjoining Carrington room where projects can be set up and worked on. We also have a small library.

 

Layouts and Stock

We have an established history of building entertaining layouts. These have included: Addison Park, Chiltern Road, Radmore, Chiltern Parkway and New Mills. However, we do not rely solely on past successes and we have a number of layout projects under construction in 'O', 'OO' and P4.

 

Exhibitions

The club holds two exhibitions a year, Risex in February and Railex in May. We also hold an informal openday in the autumn to promote the club and the hobby.

 

Thinking of Joining

Benefits of membership include free entrance to the club on Friday evenings and the use of the facilities at other times, organised exhibitions, social events and a quarterly newsletter ???Footplate??? which contains news, features and articles plus details of forthcoming events, competitions and exhibitions.

 

Wheeltapper Competition

Our annual model making competition with a wide range of classes covering UK and overseas stock, scenery, road vehicles etc. This is a chance to see and admire the work of the past year and have a friendly competition.

 

Modelling Workshops

We are running a series of workshops to improve the skills of members. These cover such subjects as: weathering, modelling with plastic, brass, whitemetal & resin casting, kit building, modelling trees, etc. In fact, any topic you want.
