How about 47702 in weathered Mainline freight blue?

I cant take credit for the repaint on this, bought on ebay with damage to the cabs which I've repaired. I think it looks great, and can normally be found top and tailing a ballast train with my NSE 47711.

Hmm...

What if....

If your going to have fun, it has to be in Blackpool

It is actually a culmulation of spare parts

The tender is from a Bachmann crab, the LMS numbers rubbed out using a pencil rubber. The body was redundant from another project and the chassis came in an ebay lot.

Added BR overhead warning flashes to complete the 1960’s, or perhaps one day the 2020’s appearence ;) although subtle, ive Picked out the oil pots in brass, as well as the drain cocks, both of which were black.

Ive since changed the nameplate splasher to black as i wasnt happy with the red in the below pictures.

LMS locos look great in BR Guise.

I have another spare patriot body.... maybe i could do Southport ?

Part of the fun of operating at the recent exhibition in Shildon was watching those looking at the layout attempting to discreetly figure out which engines were real and which were not. The easy option was to realise that all the steam engines running where fictitious, with my company the New North Eastern Railway standing on the depot en masse. However, when all of the engines on shed, were sat in the same paint scheme, with the same layout in the way that the lining was applied, it was not so easy to distinguish them from being real as they all had the uniform appearance, being Darlington NER Green lined out in British Railways late crest scheme.

I have to say that together as a fleet the engines did look impressive, the lighter green compared with BR 'Brunswick' Green looking brighter and attractive, where as the traditional real scheme while looking stunning in some light can look dark on occasions.

Pictures here show a number of the fleet on shed in action. One particular view of L4 67803 taking centre stage with the bigger engines behind being a particular favourite of the weekend.

Something along these lines. V200 and class 215 'Rabbit'....but with my 68 sort of anglasized with yellow ends. It was the darker red (Crimson) that DB had before the 'Traffic Red' was introduced. My 68 isn't really finished, it needs a darker grey panel on the upper body side and silver trim.

The photo of the V200 isn't mine, but the photo of the 215 was taken from a video I filmed at Köln West last summer. The driver gave it a handful when he saw me filming.....good lad!

Fictitious loco and therefore I suppose fictitious livery.....

Clayton chassis, (bought a whole load from somewhere for £10 each) story is re-engineered with a new body and new power unit and control equipment. Now in DB Traffic Red, again anglasized with yellow panels. Scratch built from styrene.image.jpg.0f1c5b6f3568b99135f6e28b4f8d49e4.jpgimage.jpg.53d1346a6c7ec09232defcc8b8230f15.jpg

This little paint job was days from happening in real life, the livery 25262 was going into before overhaul at Bury in the early 90s but bodywork issues brought the overhaul forward and a big lump of EE got the idea instead

:D I think that's what the yoof would call a #fail on my part!

Strangely it looks right without the large logo, maybe that's what threw me. Certainly the full 'large logo' version looks odd to me, maybe that's just down to what we're used to seeing vs. what could have been.

The six Heljan 'Clayton' chassis' I bought and stored are gradually getting re-engineered. This time the original centre cab is to be retained and just the bonnets etc replaced.

Not fixed on a livery yet, but will probably be something along the lines of a fictitious spot hire freight company. The scenario is that the loco will have been updated and up rated, in a similar way that DB have re powered their locos with centre cabs.

Not sure what I was drinking when I dreamed this up......never got it finished. It was supposed to fit a Proto 2000 E8/9 chassis.

Gradually adding the body side doors, hinges, top doors, grills etc, pretty time consuming. Still got to figure out the front end details. The chassis' only came with working red rear lights. Last bit should be the hand grab rails and steps. The grey cab is fitted separately and can be removed to allow for the glazing to be fitted following spraying.

If that is for the current era, then I would say go for a blank nose, with the current group standard light clusters.

That livery sits really nicely on that engine. I must admit that I'm not that familiar with sectorisation, so if you told me that was a real livery, I'd probably believe you.

Anyone know an  affordable refinisher of OO models?

I hanker after a class 43 in lined Brunswick Green with the passenger stock in GWR Coffee and Cream.

I also mused over a 43 with a four sleeper cars, two buffet/restaurant cars and a TSO in the consist with the 'loco' in lined Apple Green and the coaches in 'teak'.

A 43 would also 'work' in Coronation Scot streamliner livery.

Being an acknowledged classic design the 43 makes an ideal base for fictional liveries even the Scarlet of London Transport with it's minimal gold lining is a feasible.

Now that the BIG Yellow Head is being phased out perhaps we might see more adventurous old school liveries re-appearing.

Whilst we heretics wish for liveries from the old pre-grouping companies and would love to see them applied to modern stock...

Personally I'm hoping for the Tube trains on the Isle of Wight to be restored to full London Transport livery. The current version is close, but no cigar.
