Well it's been a while since my last update, so I've a little more progress to report.

Here are some recent photos...

My first attempts at static grass. I used the War World Scenics applicator. I have since tried some different colour combinations which gives a better result.

Overall view of (my) Arley Station. Platform detailing to do, and a backscene.

Ivatt 2, 46442 (Bachmann) pauses at Arley.

For even longer!

I've created an Equestrian Centre, to represent the one at Bank Farm where we have a lodge overlooking the real SVR.

A busy scene at Bridgnorth MPD, with 4566, 5164, 47383, 43106, 34027, 7812, 4150(?) and D1013

A view across the MPD. I'm going to add a low-relief representation of the shed eventually.

post-1289-0-12550600-1403006155.jpg

My initial attempt at re-creating what's apparently called the 'wooden bridge' at Kidderminster. Need more Wills vari-girder parts to complete.

post-1289-0-60832600-1403006155.jpg

The start of the T gauge system to represent the coalyard line alongside Kidderminster station.

An overall view of the central section of the layout. This represents Kidderminster Carriage Shed/Sidings (on the left), and a scenic Fiddle Yard (Alveley sidings) on the right.

All the points (apart from those closest to the baseboard edges) are now fitted with Tortoise motors and fully integrated through Switch-8 devices. I wish Circuitron would provide the linkages necessary to offset the actuator wire to the outside pivot locations!

I took an iPhone panorama photo, and sent it to an online printer - this is before

And after - much improved I think!

Wow! What progress. Arley is looking superb and is really starting to capture this station very well. I do like the Equestrian Centre - is this to represent the one you can see from the train as you approach Victoria Bridge?

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your interest and positive comments. The Equestrian centre is based on the one at Bank Farm which is actually just to the west of the SVR where Arleys up distant signal is located. About a ten minute walk north from Arley along the river bank.

I wanted an excuse to model the waiting room on platform 2 at Bridgnorth to give the right feeling around the mpd, but without modelling the whole station.

The home at Arley is wrong,......... the thing never seams to be off when I come round the corner, well, generally not till I've put that last little bit of vacuum in that garuntees your going to stop!.

Its a really nice layout which certainly has the feel of the place and your backscene for Arley station is excellen, talk about adding depth of field.

Look forward to seeing developments continuing.

A successful evening in the shed... I've fitted buffer stops at kidderminster platform 1 and the catering siding; I've tested and stuck down the coal yard miniature railway, and I've got both my Bachmann Halls (Hagley and Kinlet) running very nicely - swapping a Hornby Sapphire, for a DCC Concepts chip has transformed them from stuttering lumpy running, to something altogether much smoother. I'm surprised but very pleased - you get what you pay for I guess!

Hi Leo,

Thank you for your interest. My layout has progressed a lot from these photos on this thread. I find it easier to post in the Facebook - Model Railways group.

The signal boxes (now) are:

Kidderminster: Kernow Models limited edition 'Truro', with repainted window frames and a new nameplate

Alveley Sidings (A): Standard Hornby GWR

Alveley Sidings (B): Bachmann Scenecraft 'Highley' box

Arley: Kit bashed Ratio 'Highley' box. Scratchbuilt lower level, with modified upper to swap the access from one end to the other
