Hi Nick,

I'm glad I eventually stumbled across your layout thread on here after seeing it a while back in BRM mag :)

A stunning layout and one of my favourites! Such wonderful detail. I must say that you did inspire me when I read it way back in February. Wonderful!

It's nice to see a fellow GW modeller too.

Thank you Chris and welcome to the Much Murkle thread. I am very flattered by your comments.

Hi Nick

Much Murkle is looking really good. The two new movements in your operating sequence add a new flavour to the story.

In the pictures and video I love the lighting as it gives a nice warm glow as of a late autumn afternoon or sunset. It's a lovely bit of modelling and story telling, every bit as good as John Flann's Hintock.

Keep up the great work

All the best, Andy

Much Murkle will be at the  Cheltenham GWR Group's show this coming weekend on the 24th & 25th. Details can be found here. http://www.cheltmodrail.org.uk   As always, I hope to meet a few RMwebbers

In the meantime enjoy a cab ride aboard GWR Railcar 22 as it enters the station.

Very nice video Nick. It shows the quality of your modelling - often in videos like this all our sins are exposed because we didn't build the layout from the "driver's eye view", but this is very convincing. A little bit disconcerting, though, that the driver seems to be seated over the six-foot :jester:

I like the view of the stop blocks as the railcar comes to a halt. We are essentially staring at a bit of blue board a few centimeters away, but the eye accepts the scene because of how you have strategically placed the structures and vegetation. Those footpaths are really nicely done too, I think. Great inspiration, thanks!

Mikkel, if it was a steamer I would answer that by saying that he was leaning out of the window. As it is, being over the 6 foot is perhaps a little less disconcerting than the bending of the signal and water tower

Nick, trust all will go well for you and MM. Enjoy yourself.

Regards,

PS. I see you now employ a van.

Thanks John,

Before I added the lighting and pelmet I could get everything in the car but no passengers so I've always needed another car for the operators. Adding the lighting didn't make any difference to that. I don't actually need the van but one of my team has a suitable van and always insists it is easier to put it all in there, which of course it is.

Nick

Sorry I can't be your 100th 'lurker' as I'm already lurking.

Love the layout and especially all the behind the scenes stuff!!

Doug

Thanks Doug, it was good to meet you and have a chat at the end of a long busy day exhibiting. Great little show wasn't it?

I'm looking forward to the repeat session tomorrow.

Having followed this topic for some time, I was looking forward to seeing Much Murkle "in the flesh".   Today I had the opportunity to do so at Cheltenham, and I was far from disappointed, the photos are good, but the real thing is better.

I was Monsieur Exhibitionist. For those not in the know I was given a doctored Exhibitor's badge. I met and chatted with a number of RMwebbers and had a great weekend with my team.

After two exhibitions in October I can now have a rest until Calne in January.
