WATERLOO 1961 Terminus.jpg As I understand it, that was a really "human" moment, as they actually separated the boy from his mother and then reunited them on camera for authenticity!

Holmesfeldian
As I understand it, that was a really "human" moment, as they actually separated the boy from his mother and then reunited them on camera for authenticity! It was director John Schlesinger (who had a cameo as a city gent earlier in the film) who asked a family member if he could "borrow" her son Matthew for this scene. She hid from Matthew during filming so the tears were real.

RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted August 27, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 27, 2017 (edited) Not a lot of human activity in this one - it just reminded me how filthy firemen got and how precarious clambering about on top of tenders must have been. Rugd1022
A few more from me... Highley... Henley-in-Arden... Wilmcote... I had a lovely chat with the old boy in the above pics, he was telling me about his spotting days at Wooten Wawen in '46 and '47, seeing 5125 on the regular stoppers to Stratford-on-Avon and bagging cab rides on the pick up goods, ducking down out of sight as they passed through the stations. The conversation turned to railway memorabilia, turns out he owned a nameplate from D867 'Zenith' many years ago, he bought it because the last three digits of his Army serial number were '867'. The things you find out on a Sunday morning...!
