One for the photographers on the forum,  the technique for  such evocative images, a  telephoto lens of 135mm or 200mm, and better in B&W than colour.

ps, note the rough and ready  patch behind the horizontal strip on the body above the side cab window,  did the 27s have problems with their cab structures?

D7018 - Chris Hatton and Richard Williams, was it really over 50 years ago I first met them when we started on 6th September 1971 at Swindon  Works Apprentice Training School for what was probably one of the best craft apprentice apprentice schemes available.  John Sadler who took the photo was also with on that day. As for the Hymeks - classic traction!

Now retired - ex-Crewe and Rugby driver John Moon in Bardon Hill 'box between shunts. Before he came onto the railway via EWS he was a detective in the Lancashire force and spent a chunk of his police pension on a Maserati Granturismo, he was forever winding up the managers at Crewe by parking it next to their office window, it didn't go down well as they had to 'make do' with company Audis and Mercs....!

47749 seen at west Hampstead Thameslink station in GB railfreight livery with 360120 on the 10.35 Cricklewood to Eastleigh works for the unit to be repainted but after running round they could not get the loco and unit to  couple after several attempts the Train was cancelled
