Bowler hatted toff telling Bobby Ball the train has to go that way!  :jester:

Alas not - it was part of the uniform (hence us being referred to by some other members of staff as 'flour graders'). But fortunately the times when we  were required to wear it were relatively limited when compared with the number of times when we didn't have to bother.

Could easily be 1952.

A quick trip in the TARDIS back to 1952...and ignoring that the pannier is in West Yorkshire...here you go.

From my Father in Law's old Box Brownie photos which I recently had the pleasure of sorting through and managing to get new prints from those original negatives we could still locate, this being about the only human interest shot.  The driver heads across to his (I believe) 28xx 2-8-0 with all the familiar kit of the period, the loco waits with a recently ex works 15ton mineral as the first vehicle.  Location unknow but might be Gloucester area?

Interesting that the Tare weight of the wagon is in a black circle rather than an oblong.

Or is it an optical illusion?

It is indeed a circle, click on the photograph and a + sign should come up. Hover that over the point you wish to examine and click.

PS The locomotive number appears to be 2835 or 2836.
